The True Heiress's Return

Chapter 108

Not only that, Shakira continued to receive incoming texts, all of them congratulating her on winning prizes and inviting her to claim rewards. Shakira was utterly speechless. Who has so much time on their hands to prank me and put me on a spam list? Frustrated with the

incessant messages, Shakira activated a blocking system on her phone, intercepting all texts with the word "win" in them/

Overlooking the city center of Crescentville, Mitchell paced back and forth on the expansive balcony of his luxurious apartment. His initial excitement gradually morphed into anxiety. "Wait, you sent out that many messages, and she hasn't replied to a single one?" Around the open slate dining table, about ten staff members were on their phones, looking quite distressed. "Mr. Lopez, we followed your instructions and sent Ms. Nelson the prize information, but we haven't received any replies..." "Could it be that Ms. Nelson hasn't seen them?"

"That shouldn't be the case. We started sending messages intermittently yesterday afternoon. Even if she missed them yesterday, she should've seen them by today."

Mitchell's friend Slade lounged on an artistic sofa, shaking his head as he watched Mitchell work himself up over such a trivial matter. "If Mitchell put this much effort into picking up women, I bet there wouldn't be a single woman in Crescentville who could escape his grasp."

"Quit with the nonsense," Mitchell replied irritably, too preoccupied to joke around with Slade. "Do you think she just doesn't care about these things?"

Slade, taking it seriously, analyzed the situation with him, nodding in agreement. "It's possible. Since she's with Mr. Lopez, she's probably not lacking for anything."

Hearing "Mr. Lopez" made a hint of displeasure cross Mitchell's face. "Walter is Walter, and I'm me. Buying gifts for my sister has nothing to do with him!" If it weren't for Walter being in the way, would I have to be so constrained about giving Shakira gifts? Slade, understanding Mitchell's mindset, knew he was getting worked up but wasn't about to reason with him. "Then give her something special, something meaningful. Wasn't she part of a racing team? Get her a racing motorcycle."

As soon as Slade finished speaking, Mitchell barked orders at the staff, "Hurry up and find out which motorcycle is the best." Slade thought, 'Mitchell has really lost it!'

"This time, don't send a text. Call her directly! Yes, just call her!" Mitchell was running out of

out of patience.

The staff followed his orders, dialing Shakira's number. But to their dismay... "User busy, please try again later."

""Mr. Lopez, we can't reach her."

"How is it possible to not reach her? Change the caller." They couldn't get through with anyone, even the virtual numbers from their entire team. It could only mean one thing. Slade burst out laughing, clutching his stomach on the sofa. "Looks like your your numbers."

An awkward silence filled the room, and Mitchell's expression darkened. Seriously... all I wanted was to send something nice to Shakira as a gesture of goodwill. Why is it so hard?! Seeing him so defeated, Slade couldn't help but feel amused. "Getting a girl's

tention isn't this difficult. But women are

generally soft-hearted. If you send her these things indirectly, it might be better if you hand them to her personally. If she refuses, just keep sending them. Eventually, you'll touch her heart."

Mitchell's eyes lit up. "That's a good idea! You're onto something Slade. No wonder they call you a playboy. Being a playboy takes effort!"

Slade thought, 'What a brat! I'm helping you, and you're throwing shade at me!'

The convoy returned to Eastlake Valley Estate. As soon as the car door opened, Shakira sneezed unexpectedly. Walter, with his eyes still closed, slowly opened them and looked at her, frowning slightly. "Still not better?" His voice was low and hoarse, sounding as if he had something stuck in his throat. Shakira rubbed her nose. "Just a bit itchy. I'm fine." She glanced at him, feeling guilty. "Your voice...

"I'll be fine after a few days of rest." Walter glanced at her meaningfully. When Levi approached, he casually instructed, "Have the kitchen prepare some nourishing food in the next few days." After a moment's pause, he recalled reading online that women often experience discomfort during their periods due to insufficient energy and added. "Make sure it's something to replenish her energy."

'Replenish energy?!' Levi immediately looked at Shakira with a newfound respect, his gaze shifting from tender affection to sheer excitement. "Got it! I'll tell the kitchen to take good care of Ms. Nelson's needs. By the way, the young master needs some replenishing too; your voice is hoarse." Levi's hands trembled slightly in his excitement. 'Surely Mr. and Mrs. Lopez are watching over them from above. That's why there's been such substantial progress between the young master and Ms. Nelson! At this rate, will there be good news at home soon?!'

Shakira watched Levi's ecstatic expression, her mouth twitching. She could guarantee that Levi had completely

misunderstood! Before she could explain, a pair of brightly dressed individuals emerged from the living room. They looked to be of different ages, almost like a mother and son.

Levi whispered, "Young Master, your cousin and Mr. Blondel have come again." Shakira raised an eyebrow. The way Levi said "again" had some implications. Walter's expression remained calm. "I see them."

"Walter, we finally waited for you to come back," Angie said, approaching Walter in a familiar manner, attempting to hug him.

Brian stepped forward to block her. "Cousin, the young master doesn't like outsiders getting too close."

Derrick Blondel, following behind, shot a glare at Brian. "You mutt, my mom is his cousin; how can she be considered an outsider?"

Walter shot Derrick a glance, his voice flat. "I indeed don't like others getting too close, not even my own cousin." Derrick's expression immediately turned awkward.

Angie, unfazed, scolded her son, "You should know better. Your cousin is not in good health and can't be compared to before." Then, turning back to Walter with a smile, she added. "Walter, it's been tough at Oberlin, huh? Your cousin and his wife insist on being buried so far away; why can't they rest here in Crescentville? Our estate is spacious, and the feng shui is so good!"

Now Shakira understood. Even the lofty Mr. Lopez couldn't escape the clutches of pesky relatives...

Walter's expression had turned serious, revealing his displeasure "What do you want?"

Angie, undeterred, shamelessly said, "Oh, it's the anniversary of your cousin and his wife's passing. As their cousin, of course, I have to come and check on you." Just as she finished speaking, she heard a soft chuckle. She immediately turned to Shakira, who was covering her mouth in laughter, surprised to find a woman by Walter's side. After a quick glance at Shakira,

she was convinced that her outfit didn't cost more than a thousand bucks. Angie's expression turned scornful, and she immediately snapped, "You little brat, what are you laughing at? Don't you dare laugh at me!"

Shakira straightened her expression and nonchalantly nodded, saying, "Yes, the lady of the house understands the customs and has specially dressed up to pay respects."Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
