The Runaway Groom

Chapter 1098

While the store assistant was away, Erma returned.

Dropping to a crouch and grabbing Lulu's leg, she cried, "Please, lady! I'm begging you—Ilet me keep working for Mr. Slate! I promise not to mess up!"

Many people outside were quickly drawn by the commotion, and upon seeing the plainly-dressed woman crouching on the floor, they were immediately in an uproar!

"What is this, bullying?"

"No way. Carrying a baby?"

"Should we record this and post it online?"

Sensing danger, Lulu promptly lowered her head, glared into Erma’s flustered eyes, and cleared her throat. “Look—Mr. Slate will be leaving work soon. I'll call him and talk about your situation, and I won't argue if he agrees to take you back!"

People would misunderstand if they kept tussling and causing a scene! And as soon as Lulu was finished, Erma briskly rose to her feet, grinning ear-to-ear. “Thank you, lady! Don't worry—as long as Mr. Slate is willing to meet me, I won't bother you ever again!"

Just then, the store assistant returned with the bags of clothes. Seeing that, Erma reached for it smilingly. “I'll carry those for you, lady! "Nope!" Lulu snapped and coolly took the bags.

She could not help being paranoid—with the way Erma was hounding her, there was no telling if Erma just wanted her job back or intended something else.

Naturally, Lulu was definitely not letting Erma touch any of Luna's belongings!

As they stepped out of the store, the sun had dimmed considerably. Lulu started to head back to the apartment, with Erma constantly following her.

Then, just as they were heading into the apartment compound, a voice spoke behind them. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

After the meeting at his office, Zachary checked the security cameras in his home as usual.

Surprised to see nobody, he became worried and hurried home earlier. "Wait, slow down!" he suddenly called out on the way back.

The chauffeur looked up and just happened to spot Lulu. “Isn't that the new babysitter?"

Zachary stayed silent, while the chauffeur slowed the car and eventually stopped it beside Lulu.

Lulu turned and straightened when she saw the car.

"Mr. Slate?" she murmured and quickly turned to Erma. "There—he's here! Didn't you want him to take you back? Go tell him yourself!"

She was really reluctant to let Erma hound her and really wanted Zachary to fend her off.

However, Erma was left frowning, afraid to walk up.

On the other hand, Zachary appeared grumpy.

He was not one who would take back what he said, just as he had an idea what was happening here after a quick look.

Pressured, Erma started pulling on Lulu's arm and hid behind her, whispering, "Lady... could you talk to him for me?"

"What?" Zachary growled as he glared sharply at Erma. "I told you I no longer require your services, didn't I? Why did you come back?"

As the people around turned toward her, Erma was left petrified by Zachary's growl. "M-Mr. Slate..."

At the same time, Lulu strode off, seeing that Erma was refusing to talk. She knew that Zachary would never take Erma back anyway, and hence told him, "She kept hounding me and asked me to talk to you. She wants her job back—"

"Absolutely not!" Zachary cut her short before she could finish. "She can't even take care of my daughter. I'd never let someone like her in my house!"

Erma panicked right then, but what could she do?!

“I-1..." she stammered.

However, she could only watch as Zachary nodded at Lulu. "Get in the car. I'll take you home!"

Just then, Luna woke up...
