Chapter 52
Viktor POV
“How is she?” I asked.
“She’s alive.. but it will take some time to heal. The knife had to have been silver.. and the wound was covered in wolfsbane so I can only assume the knife was doused in it.” Beatrice said.
I let out a growl as I slammed my fist into the concrete wall.
“How did this happen? Why didn’t she try to fight or shift?” I growled. Was this because of the collar? I’d stopped giving her wolfsbane completely..
“I found a needle prick in her neck. She was given wolfsbane.. and the collar.. the silver collar didn’t help. I took my eyes off of her for merely a second.” Beatrice sobbed.
“She.. screamed for me.. Beatrice.” I fell against the wall and took a deep breath.
“In her moment of pure fear.. she screamed for me.” I dropped my face into my hands.
“She survived because of you. Had you not gotten to her in time..” Beatrice trailed off.
“I will kill him for this,” I said through my teeth. The rage I was feeling right now is beyond anything I’d ever imagined or felt before.
“I know..” Beatrice placed her hand on my shoulder.
“Beatrice..” Lillian walked out of the room with puffy eyes. She’d been crying over Violette, no doubt.
“Come here, dear.” Beatrice embraced Lillian as she cried.
I stood up and looked at the door. I needed to see her. I walked into the room and saw her b***d-soaked dress, her neck covered in bandages. Her face was pale as ever.
“Oh, Violette,” I whispered as I walked to her.
Beatrice and Lillian walked in.
“How long until she wakes?” I asked, not once taking my eyes off of her. I was afraid she’d die if I did.
“I’m.. not sure.” She said. I let out a sigh.
“And her voice?” Lillian asked.
“There.. was damage to her vocal cords.. but I think with time and her healing capabilities she will be able to speak.” She said. I sat down next to her bed.. wanting so badly to touch her but I was afraid to.
“How could her Father do this?” Lillian cried.
“He’s a monster, Lillian,” I said.
“We can’t let him know she’s still alive.. he’ll just keep trying,” Beatrice said. She was right. This man is relentless and will stop at nothing until she’s truly dead.
Her heartbeat started racing fast and we all looked at her. She reached for her throat and started thrashing around. Her eyes were bloodshot as she stared at me.. tears started pouring from her eyes and soaking into her b***d stained hair.
“It’s okay.. you’re okay,” I whispered. She opened her mouth to speak but couldn’t get anything out. She started crying as she grabbed at the bandage on her throat.
“Violette stop,” I said. She kept trying so I grabbed her wrists and pinned them down. She began kicking her legs, her heart rate beating so fast I was afraid the damned thing might explode.
“Give her something, Beatrice.. she going to rip it back open,” I said frantically. Violette got her hand loose and scratched my face with her claws.
“Violette, please,” my voice cracked as I spoke. She wouldn’t stop fighting.. Beatrice filled a needle with something and shot it into her arm. Violette’s eyes rolled to the back of her head within seconds and she passed out, her arms going limp and her grip slipping from mine.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“My king, let me check that.. please.” Beatrice came near me but I backed away.
“Just watch her,” I growled. I stormed out of the room and down the hall.
“Did you hear what happened? The princess slave is dead. Almost had her head sliced clean off. Serves her right.” I heard someone say. I’d never seen red so fast in my life as I lunged at the person.
“Who do you think you are?” I growled in his face.
“M-my king.. I was just..” I grabbed him by his throat and lifted him off the ground. It was the puny boy who kept making advances at her in the gardens.
“If I hear another word spoken about her, I will kill you where you stand. Do you hear me?” I growled in his face. He nodded frantically. I threw him on the ground and roared.
“If anyone talks about her.. ANYONE. I will punish you severely. NOW LEAVE.” I growled. The room cleared within seconds as I breathed heavily.
I walked in rage to my chambers.. Loren was nowhere to be seen. I opened my door and slammed it shut.
How could this happen? It was such a good night.. I don’t understand. My soul felt like it was being ripped in half, and there was not a thing I could do. I smashed my bookcase on the floor.
She almost died..
My chairs were thrown into the wall, the table smashed completely as I growled.
I will kill him. I will make him suffer.. how dare he try to kill what is mine. HOW F*****G DARE HE?
I looked in the mirror at my now-healing face. She was so terrified. I’ll never forget the look in her eyes as he slid the knife across her throat. I’ll never forget it..

I sat in my chambers staring blankly at the wall for such a long time. I hadn’t even realized the sun had come out, nor did I care. The one and only thing in my mind was Violette.. I repeated the night over and over, how it all went so wrong.. so fast.
It was only when Cedric mind linked me that I bothered to move.
“My king. She’s awake.” He said. I got up and walked to the door, only to be met with Minerva when I opened it.
“You’re.. covered in b***d..” she said softly.
“What is it you need, Minerva?” I asked. I was far from the mood to deal with hear today.
“I was just checking on you.. I didn’t see you tonight and I.. I heard the news.” She said.
“Do not speak of it,” I growled. She jumped back with wide eyes.
“I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying t-“ I cut her off.
“Is that all you needed?” I asked.
“Y-yes.. I will go.” She said. She quickly took off and I let out a sigh.
“Loren. Have someone clean my chambers.” I said.
“Yes, my king.” He replied with sorrow in his voice.
I took off down the stairs and made my way to Violette.
When I got to the room, Lillian was standing next to Violette’s bed. My eyes landed on Violette who was laying on her side staring at the wall. I walked over to her.
“Has she moved?” I asked as I looked at Beatrice.
“No. And I can’t get her to eat.. or drink. And she refuses to look at anyone.” Beatrice replied. I could tell she hasn’t slept either. I don’t think any of us have.
“Violette,” I said softly. I got down to her level and looked at her.. but it looked like she was looking right through me.
“You need to eat. I know it hurts. I know. But you have to try. Please. Just a sip of water at least.” I said. Lillian handed me a cup of water with a straw in it. I held it up to Violette’s mouth but she didn’t move a muscle.
“Violette. Drink.” I growled. She finally looked at me and slapped the cup out of my hands. I let out a tired sigh.
“Enough, Violette.” I growled. She went back to looking right through me.
“What do we do?” Lillian asked.
“There’s nothing we can do. We’ll just have to wait. I can try to get some fluids in her.. but I fear she’ll fight me. She doesn’t want to be touched.” Beatrice said.
