Chapter 197 Better Off This Way

Freya’s countenance grew somber. Nathaniel was still manipulating her emotions by using Peyton as a

pawn.

She averted her gaze, refusing to look at Nathaniel.

Nathaniel, in turn, refrained from any further contact. With only a few days left in their shared company, he had no desire to create an uncomfortable atmosphere.

He offered a faint smile. “Freya, I believe this is the best course of action for both of us.”

“You’ll reside in Stanna, and I’ll proceed with my marriage. Let’s leave things as they are, shall we? I think that’s acceptable.”

Freya responded with a soft chuckle, but said nothing

After a moment, she asked in a raspy voice, “Nathaniel, where were you when my father leaped from that building?”

Nathaniel’s brow furrowed, and he reached out to grasp Freya’s hand once more.

“He jumped of his own accord.” Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

Nathaniel offered no further explanation.

Freya laughed heartily. She looked at Nathaniel, her gaze turning seductive.

“How did you manage it, Nathaniel Morgan?”

Nathaniel frowned, his gaze fixed on Freya.

Freya let out a bitter chuckle. “How did you come to have feelings for me?”

Nathaniel’s expression darkened. He released Freya’s hand, his laughter tinged with bitterness.

“Freya Gomez. I can’t explain why I can’t stop having feelings for you either. Perhaps… we share some kind of connection. If you catch my drift.”

“Don’t you agree?”

Freya met his gaze, her nod solemn. “Yes, you’re correct. You desire my body, yet profess to love Abigail. You truly are a breed apart, Mr. Morgan.”

Hudson, who was driving, had to exert all his self–control to suppress his laughter.

Nathaniel studied her expression. She finally resembled the woman she was three years ago, infuriatingly self–assured and captivating.

For some inexplicable reason, his heart pounded in his chest. He could no longer suppress his carnal

“Thank you for the compliment, Ms. Gomez. I think I’ll spend the night at Newport Villa. I’m certain you’ve been thinking about me too, given our prolonged separation.”

“You might despise me, Ms. Gomez, but your body doesn’t lie. I can’t disappoint it.”

Freya was at a loss for words. She yearned to slap him, but she didn’t dare.

She clenched her teeth. “I’d exercise some restraint if I were you. You’re marrying Ms. Hill next month, don’t engage in inappropriate behavior.”

“Thanks for the advice, Nathaniel retorted with a sneer. “How I manage my marriage is not your

concern.

“You’re merely my lover, nothing more.”

He seized Freya’s wrist, drawing her close.

Freya couldn’t break free from Nathaniel’s firm grip. Her expression changed, wondering what he might do next in the confines of the car.

Nathaniel Morgan!” Freya finally yelled.

Nathaniel stared back at her. Freya couldn’t withstand his intense gaze, biting her lip.

Nathaniel raised a hand, his thumb brushing her lip as his gaze intensified. “Freya, our time together is limited. Cherish it

“You know your role as a lover.”

Nathaniel pressed a button, and the partition separating the front and back seats slowly ascended.

Despite this, faint sounds were still audible.

Hudson sighed, shaking his head.

Ms. Gomez was indeed a force to be reckoned with, considering how the auction had unfolded.

Mr. Morgan had likely reached his limit and had no choice but to send her away.

That was for the best. At least no further complications would arise.

Half an hour later, the car pulled into the parking lot of the Cosmos Hotel. The night was pitch black.
