Chapter 14
Chapter 14
What’s happening?! Hannah bumped her head into the doorway as Calvin pulled her inside his room. she crouched on the ground and massaged her forehead in pain. After taking a deep breath, she yelped, “What the hell?” Without replying to her, Calvin sat on the bed. The light from the chandelier overhead shone on his figure, casting a long shadow on the ground in front of the bed. Hannah could see the outline of his well-built muscles faintly through his black satin pajamas. Hannah bit her lip as she gulped down her drool. “I’m so useless.” she thought to herself. She was reminded of the time when Liam first took her to meet Calvin when she was 10 years old. She fell head over heels over his handsome looks. She would find every chance she had to hang out with him back then and she would always go “Vin” this and “Vin” that. Those were sweet and mushy memories she had of her childhood. She considered herself an ugly duckling back then, and now she became a homeless street rat. She felt like she had not changed much at all. Visibly irritated, Calvin said, “Put the cream on for me.” He disliked repeating himself. He unbuttoned his pajama top and it slid off his body. “Is this also part of… serving you’?” “Hmm?” Biting her lip again, Hannah asked uneasily, “Didn’t you say, that if I serve you, you will return my job to me?” Hearing that, Calvin became outraged. He almost wanted to kick her out of the room right that instant. He initially thought that she went out to get the cream for him because she cared about him. But it turned out she was doing it so she could get her job back. She really is cold and heartless! The atmosphere in the room changed. For unknown reasons, Hannah always felt her heart skip a bit whenever she was alone with him. This time, it felt like her heart was beating so hard that it could burst out of her chest at any time. Calvin always had a dominating presence and anyone who spent time in his presence would eventually feel suffocated by his aura. Just when Hannah wondered if both of them would continue to remain silent, Calvin finally spoke, “It doesn’t count.” Hannah replied, “Then…” “I meant serving me just like in the video. Stop pretending like you don’t know what I mean,” said Calvin nonchalantly. He then spread himself on the bed gracefully, as if he was waiting to enjoy a good spa session. He continued, “Do you want me to show you the video again?” She was indignant. She almost wanted to just walk out right there and then. “If you don’t do as I say, I’ll make sure Jay will also come to understand the meaning of ‘serving me’ intimately,” said Calvin with his eyes closed. He lazily waved the phone at her without looking at her. How despicable!
How shameless! “Hey, I can hear you cursing me under your breath.” Hannah was not about to back down. She was already exhausted after making the trip to get the cream, and now she had to deal with this. She retorted, “Don’t you hate me? So everything will be fine after I put the cream on you? Everything will be fine after I sleep with you?” Calvin responded, “Hey, it’s free after all. I won’t say no to something free.” “Free? What do you think I…” “Well, yes,” said Calvin candidly. “You owe your life to the Fullerton family, so don’t get ahead of yourself.” He then beckoned to her and continued, “Now, hurry up and put it on me.” She was the cause of the outbreak of his rashes, so naturally, he felt that she had to be the one to address it and rub the cream on him. Hannah uncap the tube of ointment and squeezed some onto her fingertips. She then reluctantly approached him and started rubbing the cream on the rashes. She said, “I could still live on just fine in the orphanage even if I wasn’t adopted back then, you know.” Calvin enjoyed the sensation of the cream and her cold fingertips moving around his back. It provided instant relief to him. He replied, “How naive.” Hannah applied more pressure to her fingertips and responded, “So many other orphans are still living their lives there just fine.” With a frown, Calvin replied, “Do you think you’re the same as the other orphans?” “What makes me different?” “Your looks.” Hannah was a rare beauty with a pretty face.. Among the rich, her beauty would be considered a symbol of elegance and class. But among the poor, he believed she would probably have wreaked havoc instead. Hannah’s fingers stopped in their tracks. With some hesitation, she said, “You’re actually thinking about what I said, right? Back then, when Liam adopted me… he had some ulterior motives…” “Shut up!” growled Calvin as if Hannah hit a raw nerve. He stood up abruptly and put on his pajamas. With a frown, he said, “Get out.” Seeing his reaction, Hannah stood still. After pausing for a moment, she mustered up the courage to ask him calmly, “Do you know something about it, Calvin?” Just then, Mrs. Wright knocked gently on the door, interrupting Hannah. She called out, “Mr. Fullerton, the pasta is ready. Please finish it before it gets cold.” After buttoning up his pajamas, Calvin looked more composed. Deep down inside, he breathed a sigh of relief and thanked Mrs. Wright for getting him out of the situation. He turned to her and said, “Go and eat.” There was some leftover cream on her fingertips and she could feel the sticky sensation of the cream when her fingers touched. The faint smell of the ointment emanating from her fingers could also be felt.
Hannah stood up and washed her hands in the washroom before opening the door to leave. Mrs. Wright, who was waiting outside the door, was shocked to see her coming out of Calvin’s room. She exclaimed, “Ms. Parker? What are you doing in Mr. Fullerton’s room?” “We had something to discuss.” Calvin rarely had visitors in his bedroom. She wondered if something happened to him.. Mrs. Wright looked into the bedroom worriedly and asked, “Mr. Fullerton, are you not eating?” She knew that he had a sensitive stomach, so it was bad for him to skip dinner. Mrs. Wright was a long-serving maid of the Fullerton family. When he first moved out of the family residence, he brought her along with him. All those years, she had meticulously managed his place, ensuring that he was well-fed and his penthouse was well-kept. That was why he had long regarded her as a respected elder of the family. Hearing an anxious Mrs. Wright fussing over him not eating yet, Calvin quickly replied, “I’ll go down soon.” He was rubbing the cream on his arms himself, but there were a few spots of rashes on his back that were still left unattended. They were causing him great discomfort, but his arms could not reach them. Too embarrassed to ask for Mrs. Wright’s help, he decided to give Zac a call. “Come over to my place.” It was already 1:00 am and Zac was already in bed with a woman in his arms. Calvin’s call startled him. Zac leaped out of bed and went, “What happened?” “Something’s up, come over quickly,” replied Calvin. He immediately hung up after he finished speaking. Hearing that, Zac’s mood lightened up after being abruptly woken up from his sweet dreams. Mrs. Wright always had a loose tongue. She could not keep things to herself. So when both of them were alone downstairs, she quickly asked Hannah, “Mr. Fullerton blame you for the death of Mr. Liam, didn’t he? I can sense that something changed between both of you. I haven’t even heard you call him ‘Vin’ a single time since you arrived.” On top of that, when Hannah came over in the past, Calvin would flash out a smile from time to time. It was a rare sight for Mrs. Wright as Calvin kept a straight face almost all the time. In Mrs. Wright’s eyes, Hannah had a special place in Calvin’s heart, even if he did not show it. But on that day, Calvin was in an especially foul mood. “Mr. Fullerton is still grieving, so please don’t take things to heart,” said Mrs. Wright as she scooped some pasta onto a plate. Before Hannah could say a word, she continued, “Were you involved in Mr. Liam’s death? I heard terrible things on the streets about what happened.” When Liam died, gossip was going around everywhere on the street whenever she was out shopping.
They talked about how Hannah stood by doing nothing as he died and how she was an ungrateful brat who had forgotten about the Fullerton family’s kindness toward her.. Drama among the rich and powerful families was always juicy gossip material for the common folks. “Mrs. Wright,” said Hannah as she took the plate from Mrs. Wright, “do you really think I was involved in Liam’s death?”Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
