THE NANNY AFFAIR

Immediately I ran out of words, what can I say, Riya loves the same woman who took her happiness away and that of her son, decerning the sad look on her face, I had no choice but to tell her the words she needed to hear from me.

“She will be fine, your mom is a strong woman and I am certain nothing will happen to her”.

As comforting as that might sound like, I just hope the foolish mistake of methane doesn’t get me exposed as well.

(At the hospital)

After a while, Riya and I scrambled into the hospital, the whole family members were there, waiting for the doctor’s report, hours passed yet the doctor was still in, and an anxious Riya was this close to barging inside the emergence room, luckily the doctor decides to come and meet us.

” Doctor, how’s my mom?”Riya walked closer, anxiously awaiting his reply.

The doctor soars his eyes around before proceeding with his statement and quote, “your mom is fine, luckily she was brought to the hospital on time, if not we wouldn’t have been able to save her”.

A cloud of relived hovered around Riya, she buffed out a deep whiff, shooting a smile of gratitude to him.

” methane, are you okay?” Riya asked as we all looked at her.

“Yes, I am fine just happy that ma’am is alive, it’s wonderful news”.  She (methane) smiles and I know a fake smile when I see one.

Riya decided to stay back at the hospitals with Elena, while the rest of the family left one after the other.

I turned my back and saw methane staring at the statue of the virgin mary, I walked closer and saw that she was busy praying, and after she finished with her prayers, she turned and took notice of my presence their donning a startled look on her face.

” jeez! Calm down sweetheart, did you think I was Elena?” I teased her with a smirk on my lips.

“No! I knew it was you and besides, one failed attempt can’t stop me from trying it over again”.

I giggled the moment she made that known to me, it either she thinks this is a child’s hide and seeks game or she’s only trying to get the idea off her mind that Elena is alive will she still being alive will only mean that, there a storm brewing in and set its location to her.

” sweetheart, I will advise you to go far away from here because if Elena gets a hold of you, you will beg for death and it won’t come so easily”.

I turned in the opposite direction to leave when she snatches me back from leaving.

“Look, I know that I let my emotions get the better of me, but please what can we do, huh! I can not hide away because of Elena!”.

I noticed the tense look she donned on, but there was one important piece of information I know about my mom, is that no one likes her, she has hurt numerous people, to a certain extent that few of them wants her dead, who the right person would gladly fit in and take the fall for methane silly mistake? I just have to find the right person.

” Okay! Help you! Give me some time, you will see what happens next!”

(I gave her my word and walked away ).
