The Mating Rules

My laughter dies in my throat as Caden’s face comes closer to mine, his amusement gone as he studies me carefully, my gaze flicking from his eyes to his mouth and back again.

‘What do you do to me?’ Caden breathes as he reaches out to tuck my hair behind my ear. ‘I can’t think around you, everything about you captures my attention.’

I swallow, trying to think of something to say as the air grows thicker around us, but my brain has gone on holiday somewhere exotic and not even left a trainee brain in its place.
