Chapter 3733
Chapter 3733
Soon, Mr. Bay and Jacob arrived at the Calligraphy and Painting Association building.
Kathleen Fox had been waiting for them for a long time.
Once Mr. Bay returned, the secretary led him and Jacob to the meeting room, and then introduced them to Kathleen.
"Ms. Jane, this is the president and vice-president of the calligraphy and painting association, Mr. Bay and Mr. Wilson."
Then, the secretary introduced Kathleen to them, "Mr. Bay and Mr. Wilson, I called earlier about a French Oskian lady. This is Ms. Jane, Kylie Jane."
Kathleen did not use her real identity to be on the safe side. For her, she had plenty of completely legal and real identities in several countries. Her identity as Kylie Jane, a French Oskian lady, was just one of many.
Kathleen glanced at Jacob, and relief washed over her. She could finally get in touch with Jacob! Now, she would have the chance to find out about Jacob's son-in-law, Charlie.
She stood up politely and said with a smile, "Dear sirs, I've finally met you after hearing so much about you."
Mr. Bay did not expect the overseas Oskian to be such a young and beautiful lady. He was slightly surprised at first, but recomposed himself quickly and replied with a smile, "Ms. Jane, you're too kind. I heard there was an overseas Oskian who wanted to donate some works of art to us, but I didn't expect it to be a young lady such as yourself. Ms. Jane, where were you from? Were you a resident of Aurous Hill?"
Kathleen smiled gracefully and shook her head. "My ancestors were from Aurous Hill, but the following generations have settled overseas. My grandfather still has a very deep affection for Aurous Hill, but it's inconvenient for him to come here in person as he's too old. As such, he entrusted me to contribute a little effort for the calligraphy and painting world of Aurous Hill."
Kathleen gestured to her assistant standing beside her. "Sherry, bring them out."Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
Sherry Connor quickly stepped forward with a cedar box, and opened it on the meeting table. Inside were eight calligraphy scrolls.
The Forrest family bought these scrolls from a collector in the United States last night. They delivered them to Aurous Hill to match Kathleen's made- up background story, giving her a chance to get in touch with Jacob.
Unfortunately, Mr. Bay and Jacob were completely unaware of Kathleen's real motive behind her donation. She was putting on such a show simply to get an opportunity to get in touch with Jacob's son-in-law, Charlie Wade.
Kathleen made an inviting gesture to Mr. Bay and Jacob, beckoning them to examine the scrolls. She said respectfully, "Sirs, my grandfather entrusted me with these eight works from Finnegan Jonas. Please, d o take a look."
Mr. Bay was over the moon. He
quickly took out a pair of white gloves from his pocket and carefully picked up one of the scrolls. He gently spread it out on the table and examined it thoroughly, and praised, "This is indeed Finnegan Jonas's original work! Looking at the handwriting, these were done in his prime years. They are well
preserved, and very precious!"
Kathleen nodded with a smile. "These works are a special series by Finnegan Jonas. He wrote eight pieces of calligraphy to sing praises for Aurous Hill's four seasons and warm culture. As you've said, these scrolls are well preserved and are indeed very rare!"
Mr. Bay could no longer restrain his excitement and chipped in eagerly, "Yes, and there's another name for this series. It's also called the Aurous Hill Octad! These works pose a great significance to the local history and customs here! I've heard of this Octad series when I first started calligraphy, but word has it that the scrolls were overseas. I didn't expect to see them in Aurous Hill today!"
Mr. Bay then told Jacob, "Jacob, come and have a look too! Finnegan Jonas can be regarded as the most
famous calligrapher from Aurous Hill! His Octad series is the best representation of the cultural history here. Look at his writing! His stroke is vigorous and powerful, with smooth subtleties full of charm. It's simply wonderful!"
How could Jacob understand any calligraphy? He could tell that the calligraphy was good, but he could barely understand the art's spirit.
Therefore, he can only agree with Mr. Bay and started echoing empty praises. "Certainly! His writing is truly amazing! It's already marvelous at first glance! Simply wonderful!"
