Katrina's POV

The body got taken. Oh fuck, someone actually walked in on that mess. But what was I expecting?

I didn't hide the body, and he wasn't exactly invisible.

What were you expecting, Katrina? For them to jump over it?

I felt stupid right now and the worst part was Silas wasn't saying anything.

I wasn't certain what we were going to do next, or how to deal with this. If whoever saw the body knew I was the one who killed him, then I was as good as doomed.

The car ride was silent, but the tension between Silas and me felt like a storm about to break out. It would have been better if he yelled at me or somthing than the silence that bf ill owed after that call.

I just knew we were fucked. Or rather.

I was fucked.

My heart pounded in my chest. I didn't know if it was from fear of what I'd done or time he glanced my way.

He didn't need to say anything, but his eyes said everything for him.

When he finally spoke, his voice was cold. "Do you even understand what you've done?"

Maybe just a little bit. But I wouldn't understand it from his point.

I swallowed hard, my throat dry. "I... I thought he was dead," I whispered. "I made sure of it."

I even kicked him.

Silas slammed his hand against the steering wheel, making me jump. "Thinking and being sure are two very different things, Katrina!" His jaw was clenched tight, and his knuckles white as he gripped the wheel. "Now his body is gone, and we have no control over what happens next."

I

I couldn't speak. I felt so small under his anger, like a child who'd been caught breaking something valuable. Or maybe stealing candy after being told it was meant for later.

My stomach twisted, but even through my guilt, I couldn't ignore the way his presence affectd me. He was furious, yes, but there was something about the way he looked at me-like he wanted to devour me whole. Abd oh, did I want that more than anything.

He pulled the car into an empty parking lot and turned to face me.

Abd I stared, my eyes searching his face. His gaze locked onto mine intensely, making me gulp.

"Do you even realize the risk you've put us in? If this gets out, Ethan's allies will come for us. For you."

Yes. I knew about it to a fault, but what going I have done?

"I didn't mean for it to go like this," I said, my voice shaky. "He came at me first. I-"

Silas leaned closer, cutting me off. His hand grabbed my chin, forcing me to look into his eyes. "No excuses," he growled. His breath was hot against my face, and I couldn't stop the shiver that ran through me. I was nettt RT oh alloguxung nugget such a simple thing from him made me feel.

"I'll fix it," I whispered. "Whatever happens, I'll make it right."

His lips curved into a cold smirk, but his grip on my chin didn't loosen. "You think you can fix this? You're in over your head, Katrina. You don't even understand the kind of mess you've made."

Yes, I actually didn't understand it. But no matter what it was going to stay the same.

"I can handle it," I shot back, my voice trembling but firm.

"You?" His laugh was lo, completely mocking, but there was something dangerous in it, something that made my pulse race for a completely different reason. "You can't even handle me."

His words hit me like a spark to dry wood, igniting something deep inside me. "Try me," I whispered before I could think

twice.

Silas's eyes darkened, and for a moment, I thought he was going to lose control. But then he leaned back, releasing my chin, though his eyes never left mine. "Not now," he said, his voice a rough growl. "We're not done talking about this.

I swallowed the lump in my throat, my cheeks burning. "Then say what you need to say."

Silas leaned closer again, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. Another shiver was sent down my spine and Ibgulp, staring at his close up face.

"Ethan wasn't just any target. He was working with someone inside our ranks. Someone who knows about you."

My heart skipped a beat. "What... what do you mean?"

"His death was supposed to be clean, quiet," Silas said, his voice sharp. "But your mess changed everything. Now whoever was working with him will know we're onto them."

The weight of his words hit me like a punch to the gut. I'd screwed up worse than I thought. "What do we do now?"

Silas stared at me for a long moment, his eyes searching mine. Then, without warning, he pulled me onto his lap. My breath hitched as his hands gripped my waist, his touch firm and possessive.

"What are you-"

"Reminding you who's in charge," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "You don't get to act without thinking, Katrina. Not in my world."

I opened my mouth to argue, but his lips crushed against mine, stealing my breath and any protest I might've had. The kiss was rough, punishing, but it made my head spin. I hated how easily he could make me forget everything, how my body responded to him even when my mind screamed at me to resist

When he finally pulled back, his forehead rested against mine, and his voice was softer, almost tender. "You're mine, Katrina. That means don't make a move without me. Do you understand?"

you

I nodded, my lips still tingling from his kiss. "Yes," I whispered, though I wasn't sure if I was agreeing with him or just surrendering to the way he made me feel.

"Good," he said, his tone hardening again. "Because from now on, every mistake you make puts us both in danger. And if you get caught..." His grip on my waist tightened. "I won't be able to save you."

His words hit me and for a moment I was stunned, but all I could think about was the way his hands felt on me, the way his eyes burned with something that was equal parts anger and desire. This wasn't over-not with Ethan, not with Silas. And definitely not with the fire burning between us.
