Fanuel.

I watched her wash the chicken and place it in the pot while I chopped the carrot for the rice.

She diced the beef and added it to the chicken while she moved over to the fresh fish. She did everything effortlessly and looked even more beautiful.

I never imagined cooking would be fun, but Christine proved me wrong.

“Fanuel, it’s too tiny.” She complained and came over collecting the knife and showing me to chop it a little bigger.

“It shouldn’t be more tiny than the grains.” She said firmly and I nodded dutifully doing the exact thing she showed me.

She was going to prepare a mashed chicken curry stew. She complained that the chickens weren’t enough and there wasn’t time to go to the market to get them.

She added various seasonings to the meat and I watched her every move.

She blended the tomatoes and fresh pepper and I was so lost staring that I cut my hands.

“Shit!”

I cursed and panic washed through her as she dashed to me in worry.

“Oh Fanuel!! How did you do it? Sorry…here, sit down.”

She checked around for anything to stop the bleeding but couldn’t.

I tried stopping her to stop worrying but she brought me over the sink and washed the blood off.

She cleaned it with a clean towel but the damn blood wouldn’t stop flowing.

The next thing she did made my blood freeze, she took my thumb into her mouth and sucked it.

She brought it out and checked if there was still blood and sucked my thumb again licking it.

I nodded and she did everything swiftly making the aroma of her meal saturate everywhere.

I watched her backside and bit my lips.

How can I just stare and do nothing while everything about her was screaming attention.

I stood up and hugged her from behind.

“Fanuel.. stop please, at least not while I’m cooking ”

“No, let me hold you while cooking…. I can’t just sit and stare.”

“Then just fetch the water for me using the bowl.” She pleaded and I sighed.

We all had lunch quietly and I noticed how Laurel and Christine giggled over something and I chuckled.

Typical girly thing.

“Okay, I’m dying of suspense. I can’t endure it any longer, can someone tell me what the hell is going on?”

My brother blurted and I hissed , concentrating on my food.

“Yeah, I’m curious too.” Edward added but the whole house became silent.

Christine glanced at me fidgeting nervously and I was getting pissed at the fact that these guys won’t let her enjoy her meal in peace.

Mum was nonchalant as she ate gleefully.

“If you’re tired of the meal, just fuck off and let others concentrate. You can browse your questions on Google.”

Laurel giggled and winked at Jayden and he sighed, muttering asshole before eating.

“Where’s Miranda?” Mum blurted and the whole eyes stared at me.

“Ugh! Really mum?”

“I heard you struck a deal with her, just know that I will never accept her even in my grave.” Mum said sternly and I rolled my eyes.

My mum’s disgust for Miranda was still lingering, even when dad argued and told her how her dad will be a beneficiary to us, she argued nonstop with him stressing that her baby will never get married to a public bitch.

“She’s gone mum, she was too disturbing.”

“That was fast, you didn’t even let her last for a day.”

Jay said and I nodded.

“Christine was totally sick of her”

They were shocked again but chose to keep quiet.

“Alex has traveled back to Chicago.”

Edward said and I stare sharply at him with a questioning look.

“I’m serious…. he took a flight this morning and I couldn’t help but tease him to confirm.”

“That son of a bitch, he should never come back.”

“Stop cursing in the presence of Mum ” Christine warned and I nodded.

They cleared the dishes while I sat on the veranda with Edward and Jay.

They printed and tormented my life with questions about Mirabel wondering if she wouldn’t do something nasty.

“She won’t, I made sure to make her quiet about doing anything.”

“Soo…. are you going to tell us what’s going on?”

“I’m exhausted Jay, I need to take a nap.”

I stood up from those begging assholes and strides towards my room when I hear something that make my blood boil.

“Christine….”Jay called and stared at her softly.

“Yeah Jay.”She smiled sweetly at him.

“Webb…”he sighed and Christine turned and focused all her attention to him edging closer.

“Your Dad is in Chicago.”

“What?” She gasped in shock and he nodded.

“Easton found out yesterday, he doesn’t know the exact location yet but he told me to tell you this.

He wants you to hang on and that he’s definitely going to find Webb and get you out of here by all means.”

“Really?”

“Yes, he badly want to take you out of here ”

She swallowed and heaved a sigh of relief which made my heart sink into sheds and she turned to stare at me which made me avert my eyes, looking elsewhere with my heart clenching tight against my ribs and slamming the door shut.
