The Kiss that Sparked it All

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

All Gemma could do was marvel at Ellinor’s optimism, while she herself had already lost hope. The project proposal they had prepared for a month was now useless, and although she was extremely disappointed, there was no other solution!

She sighed, then turned and headed for the break room.

“Ellinor, you’re busy. I’ll go make you some coffee to perk you up!”

“Uh, thanks!”

Ellinor responded in a low voice, while a red progress bar appeared on the black screen of her computer. When the bar was full, Ellinor quickly cracked the password. She clicked a hidden chat box, typed a few words and sent them.

[What’s the beef?]

The hacker was shocked and replied: “Who are you? You actually breached the final level encryption system of AJ Alliance!” Ellinor’s fingers danced on the keyboard: [Who I am is not important. The point is, why are you attacking Nexus Industries? Every debt has its debtor. If someone pissed you off, go settle the score with them, don’t ruin the fruits of many innocent people’s labor!] Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

The hacker, not willing to admit defeat, immediately counterattacked. But he was successfully intercepted by the defense system that had already been set up. He couldn’t help but feel a little admiration for this mysterious opponent who was technically superior to him.

When Gemma returned with the coffee, Ellinor’s computer had been repaired, and all the files had been restored to their original state.

“It’s really fixed! Ellinor, you’re amazing! How did you do it?”

Ellinor removed a USB stick, spun it on her index finger, leaned back in her chair, and smiled, “I got this antivirus software off eBay that claims to be bulletproof, turns out it wasn’t lying! Gonna leave a positive review later!”

Gemma frowned in disbelief, “What! Really? The IT department said no antivirus software would work, looks like they’re the ones who are useless!”

Ellinor took the coffee from Gemma, gestured with her chin and said, “Alright, go get your PPT copied out to show Joseph

and the others!”

“Oh, right! I’m on it! Ellinor, I love you!” Gemma blew Ellinor a big kiss, then immediately rushed off to get her work done.

Co–workers suddenly swarmed around, asking Ellinor for the link to the antivirus software. Ellinor dealt with them leisurely. “I’ll send it to the group chat later!”

She took a sip of coffee from the cup, her eyelashes slightly lifted, glancing towards Joseph’s office….

That weird guy probably hadn’t finished his coffee yet, right?

In the office.

After bringing Theo his coffee, Debby kept switching her sexy pose, trying to catch his attention. But no matter what, the man didn’t give her any attention.

Gemma knocked on the door gently, “Mr. Joseph, the PPT is ready. The scheduled meeting can proceed now.”

Joseph, who was enjoying his coffee with Theo, brightened up, “The computer is fixed?”

Gemma nodded confidently, “Yes, Joseph. Ellinor fixed the computer.”

“Oh, she’s kinda talented.”

Joseph finally relaxed. He stood up, and made a polite gesture, “Mr. Blanchet, our meeting materials are ready. We can head to the conference room. The head of our new project will be there to give you a detailed introduction.”

Theo put down his coffee cup elegantly and stood up. His every move was filled with the charm of a mature man.

Debby was gnashing her teeth. Ellinor actually fixed the computer!

Fifteen minutes later, Theo came out of the meeting room with a poker face.

Joseph followed him respectfully. When they passed by Ellinor’s desk, Theo suddenly stopped and gave Ellinor a cold look, his lips lifting into a slight frown.

“Joseph, I’ve wasted an hour of my time, thanks to your company’s talent.”

Joseph was a bit embarrassed, “Mr. Blanchet, I’m sorry….”

Theo didn’t look at Ellinor again, he turned and walked towards the elevator.

Just as Ellinor was about to ask what happened, Debby walked over with a triumphant look on her face, “Ellinor, so what if you can fix computers? Mr. Blanchet still doesn’t like your proposal.”

Ignoring Debby, Ellinor turned to Gemma, who had just returned from the meeting room, “Gemma, what happened?”

Gemma lowered her head, her voice filled with sorrow, “Ellinor, there was a critical data error in the PPT. Mr. Blanchet called our proposal trash….”

Ellinor frowned.

At this point, Joseph returned with a serious look on his face, “Gemma, what’s going on? How could you make so many mistakes? If you can’t handle it, then quit!”

Gemma hung her head, “Joseph, I’m sorry, I….”

Seeing Debby’s triumphant expression, Ellinor immediately realized she was the culprit.

*Joseph, the error in the PPT has nothing to do with Gemma. Although the computer was fixed, the virus damaged some of the original files, causing the data in the PPT to get messed up. I should have checked before letting Gemma present it. It’s my fault. I will resign.”

Joseph frowned at Ellinor.

Morgan spoke up from behind Joseph, “Resign? In your dreams! Ellinor, you should be fired. Pack up and leave, don’t make Joseph mad anymore.”

As Ellinor was waiting for the elevator, Gemma found her, “Ellinor, I should be the one leaving.”

Ellinor shook her head slightly, “It’s not your fault. Morgan was planning on firing me anyway, you don’t need to get involved.”

Gemma was steamed, “But if you just walk out like this, Debby will get the job handed to her on a silver platter. She’s clearly not as skilled as you; this is too easy for her!”

Ellinor just shrugged coolly, gave Gemma a wave, then turned to step into the elevator.

As Ellinor exited the elevator, the one next door opened up too. Debby strutted out, dropping a box of office supplies right in front of Ellinor.

“You forgot to pick up your stuff. The boss said your desk needs to be cleared out it’s turning into my office.”

Ellinor kept her cool, bent down to pick up her things, “Debby, as a colleague, I have a piece of advice for you.”

Debby crossed her arms in triumph, cocked her shoulder, “What advice? Spill it!”

Ellinor’s lips curled up slightly, leaning in to whisper, “If your ability doesn’t match your position, you’re bound to fail.”

Debby was taken aback, “Ha! You lost to me, and now you’re trying to scare me?

Ellinor, carrying her stuff, walked out of the company building, when a black, limited–edition Mercedes business car abruptly pulled up beside her.

Collin got out from the passenger side, saying, “Ms. Mendoza, Mr. Blanchet would like you to get in the car.”

Ellinor tried to dodge him, but he blocked her way, “Ms. Mendoza, please get in the car.”

Unable to avoid him, Ellinor’s face darkened as she reluctantly got in.

Debby happened to see this scene. She initially came out because she saw a limited–edition luxury car parked outside the company and wanted to take a closer look. She didn’t expect Ellinor to get into the

car!

Debby was dumbstruck. What the hell was going on? That was a limited–edition Mercedes! Why the hell did Ellinor get to ride in such a car? Was she even worthy?
