The Kiss that Sparked it All

Chapter 2817

Chapter 2817

“Dinner is ready!” Talian called out as she brought in the last dish, a hearty casserole that filled the hallway with its mouthwatering aroma.

“Mmm, that smells amazing. No restaurant can hold a candle to your cooking,” Nolan said as he escorted his grandmother to the dining room.

Tonight, it was a family dinner for the three.

“If you like it so much, Master Nolan, you should come home more often. I’ll cook for you every day,” Talian offered with a smile as she ladled soup into bowls for the grandparents and didn’t forget Nolan either.

“Indeed, you should visit more if you’re craving Talian’s cooking. She seems to lose her spark when you’re not around to appreciate her meals.”

Talian chuckled, “The grandparents’ appetites aren’t what they used to be, and the missus barely touches her food. It’s only you, sir, who can eat a bit more.’

“The more you eat, the prouder Talian feels,” Grandpa chimed in. “Ah, this stew is rich and flavorful. Nolan, have Talian pack a jar for you to take home. It’ll taste just as good warmed up tomorrow morning.”

Talian frowned slightly, “If you’d like some tomorrow, Master Nolan, I could just make a fresh batch. It won’t taste as nice by then.

“No trouble, Talian. If I want more, I’ll just come home,” Nolan assured her.

After spending a restful night at home and clearing his head, Nolan returned to the company the next day with a firm decision in mind. He resolved to find a woman for a marriage of convenience to settle his family’s worries, especially since his grandparents were getting on in years.

He didn’t need to know the woman well, but she had to be respectable enough to pass muster with his parents. The most crucial aspect was to avoid any emotional entanglement so they could part cleanly when the time came. While the former was manageable, he wasn’t so sure about the latter

Just as his lawyer had mentioned, the internet was awash with rumors. After making sure his photos with Dahlia were taken down multiple times, no one dared to post their pictures so brazenly anymore.

The ordeal felt like a thorn in his side, and he wasn’t sure what to ask Dahlia the next time they met. Was it even necessary to confront her about the obvious?

Despite knowing the likely truth, he couldn’t bring himself to accept that the woman he once adored could be so duplicitous. Perhaps her invitation to a movie was a calculated move for her career back home. He dreaded thinking about how much of their past interactions were built on her lies. Meanwhile, Regina was in a slump. Since their last falling out, she hadn’t reached out to Nolan, torn over whether to push for further investigation into Domingo. Perhaps Nolan had grown tired of her indecision.

But there was another pressing matter to attend to.

Regina returned home, only to run into Imogen who was dressed to the nines, dripping with jewels as if afraid the world might overlook her wealth – the epitome of new money extravagance.

Imogen was busy adorning herself with a pair of 12mm pearl earrings when Regina blocked her path, her presence formidable and intentions clearly not friendly.
