Chapter 2565
Chapter 2565
His feet’shuffled backward, a portrait of vulnerability and fear.
“Who are you?”
Balfour’s gaze was fixed on Ivy, who was kicked nearly unconscious. Pain etched across his face as if
it bled for her. With a surge of anger, he delivered a revenging kick that sent Ellis crashing into the wall
and collapsing in a heap.
“Ah-”
“Hands up! Don’t even think about resisting. You’re surrounded!”
Ellis writhed on the ground, his cries slicing through the air, but when Balfour moved to give him
another kick, someone intervened.
“Mr. Howard, our priority is to check on your wife’s condition. We need to get her to the hospital
immediately. As for this piece of trash” the voice paused disdainfully, “there will be plenty of time to deal
with him later.”
-Balfour’s clenched fists trembled with barely contained rage. It took a moment before he could turn
away and approach Ivy. His heart sank at the sight of the bruises on her face and the blood at the
corner of her mouth. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
A single tear fell, landing on Ivy’s cheek, its heat like that of volcanic ash.
The others remained silent, their earlier assumptions of a mere contractual marriage between Balfour
and Ivy shattered. Now it was clear that Balfour loved Ivy to his core.
Who wouldn’t ache to see their beloved injured and lying in such squalor?
Even the officers frowned deeply, appalled by the heinous nature of the kidnapping.
Meanwhile, Clara had been arrested with ease, her hands now cuffed behind her back.
As she watched Balfour, who was so careful not to touch the injured Ivy, Clara lost her composure.
“Didn’t you say you didn’t love her? What is all this now? Let me tell you, her face is ruined, her body
tarnished!”
She cackled, “I’d love to see if the esteemed CEO of Howard Group would still want such a damaged
woman.”
Balfour’s eyes were filled with loathing as he glanced at Clara briefly. “That was just a necessary
pretense. Even if Ivy were disfigured, I would love her just the same.”
“Stop with your charade. I’ve showed her all those messages you sent, and guess how it broke her?”
Clara taunted.
Balfour couldn’t care less about her words. Their love needed no proof to others. What mattered to him
was Ivy’s well-being. The ambulance was still on its way, and the sight of

Ivy so frail made him afraid to move her, his eyes scanning her body inch by inch for any injuries that
might have been missed.
“Does anyone else work with you?” Balfour towered over Clara. He had suspected Mara, but lacked
proof, and he wanted to hear Clara point the finger at her.
But Clara still stuck to her story. “No, it was all my idea. I despise her. I’ve been hating you both for a
long time, wishing she’d just drop dead. I wanted to destroy everything about her. So, what are you
going to react? You might be powerful, but certainly you can’t kill me, can you?” she challenged with a
sneer.
