The Invincible Arthur Gardner

Chapter 74 - A Dish Best Served Cold

Chapter 74 - A Dish Best Served Cold

Marco had been informed by his father that Arthur had taken ownership of the Brown Company,

something which seemed inconceivable. Yet, it had indeed come to fruition with no uncertainty.

As per their agreement, Marco, having lost the bet to Arthur, had to kneel before him and apologize

publicly.

Marco approached Arthur, his face contorted with anger and his pride crushed. He was humiliated to

have to submit to these demands in front of the people who had once admired him. His heavy exhale

carried his indignation as he stopped in front of Arthur and reluctantly bowed down to the ground in

supplication.

"What an asshole you are, Arthur," he muttered.

"Arthur," Marco said apologetically. His voice reverberated through the grand lobby, causing everyone

to become suddenly silent.

"I'm sorry for what I did to you while you were working here."

Marco couldn't seem to shake his curiosity about what had transpired with Arthur. In a short span of

time, he had gone from being trash to someone of great value. Marco couldn't help but wonder how

Arthur had attained his newfound wealth. Had he robbed a bank? Or perhaps he had married an

elderly widow and then killed her for her money? Maybe his grandfather was secretly providing

financial support to Arthur?

Marco clenched his fists, silently wishing he could confront Arthur. He was aware of the consequences

of his actions, yet he still wanted revenge. After all, Arthur had essentially taken control of the entire

company.

Marco certainly didn't want his employment there to be terminated that day. "Arthur, you bastard," he

muttered in his head, not daring to say it aloud.

"Arthur, I apologize for deliberately taking Linda away from you to cause you pain, as well as for firing

you from this company without any valid justification. I am also sorry for the way I treated you while you

were working here." Marco spoke firmly, his forehead still pressed against the cold marble floor.

Everyone was shaking their heads in disbelief as they watched the events unfolding before them. Many

of them were still in denial, refusing to accept what had transpired.

"What the hell is going on here?"

"Is it really true?" one of them asked, staring at Marco in disbelief.

“It must be a prank played by Marco,” another replied, shaking their head. “I'm certain of it. Only an

idiot would believe this. Stop this, Marco. I know it looks funny, but this is not a joke.”

"Marco, what are you doing?" one of them ran up to Marco and attempted to help him to his feet.

"Arthur, how dare you?" they said, turning to Arthur with incredulous looks on their face. "What kind of

trick is this? Do you think we'd actually believe this?"

Arthur smiled, looking at the eyes of those who couldn't believe the extraordinary event unfolding

before their very own eyes. Even when Marco, a person of immense pride, knelt before him, they still

doubted the facts that were clearly not in their favor. Yes, humans are like that; they will only accept

and believe in things that are beneficial to them.

Arthur then approached Marco and, placing his foot under Marco's chin, forced him to look up at him.

Marco was visibly seething with rage as if he was about to punch Arthur any second.

"Look at me, Marco," Arthur commanded.

The onlookers were filled with apprehension and dread, many of them having previously insulted

Arthur. It was clear that the situation was about to become very unpleasant.

"Marco," Arthur began sternly, "you have been exploiting your role here to intimidate those who are

weaker than you. You've been playing the field, dating every female employee and even getting some

pregnant, then leaving them. You have nothing to offer this company. You are scum and, as of today,

you are no longer employed here. Get away from me now!"

As soon as everyone heard Arthur's words, they could no longer deny the facts that had just unfolded

before them.

"Is it true that the brown company has been completely bought out by someone?" someone asked.

“Is it really Arthur that bought it? This can't be right, can it?” another question.

"If Arthur is now the full owner of this company, does this mean that our lives won't be safe here

anymore?" someone else chimed in, their voice shaking with fear.

"No, this can't be happening. This must be a joke," another person said, their face pale with shock.

At the realization of what had just happened, some people immediately trembled and looked as if they

were about to faint.

John, who had been standing not far from Marco, also felt as if his body was trembling violently, a

terrible fear coursing through him as he realized he had made a fatal mistake. His gaze followed

Arthur's direction, and as Arthur passed in front of him, he muttered, trembling, "Ar… Arthur…."

Arthur then halted, turning to face John. "Mr. John, I suggest you leave this place immediately. As you

will not receive any kind of severance here. A manager who does not treat his employees with respect

does not deserve to remain here."

John begged and tried to follow Arthur, but Arthur didn't seem to notice him at all.

"No! Arthur, I'm sorry!" he called out, as Arthur was followed by Edna and Alicia and walked away.

John was still in denial. "It can't be true, right?" he said to himself, then walked towards Marco. "Mr.

Marco," he implored, "please tell me if this isn't true. Can Arthur really suddenly become a complete

owner of this company? This can't be happening."

Marco, no longer able to contain his fury, abruptly rose to his feet and fixed Arthur with a menacing

glare. From his pocket, he withdrew a knife and resolutely declared, "You won't be walking away from

here alive, Arthur!"

He was determined to exact his revenge and make sure Arthur would never again be able to rest easy.

Marco sprinted towards Arthur, knife poised to strike, but at the same time, Alicia, who was walking to

Arthur's left, smiled and leaped into action.

“Let me show this fool what I'm made of!” she exclaimed.

In a single swift movement, she kicked Marco onto the ground, his face crashing hard against the floor.

Marco's face was battered, and some of his teeth were even knocked out of his jaw. His body was

rendered limp, and he passed out completely.

"What the heck is going on here?" someone asked, bewildered. "Why is that girl so strong?" This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

"I'm afraid," another added, concerned. "Will my fate be the same as theirs? I don't want to get fired

from this company."

As they spoke, Arthur was standing in front of the exclusive elevator, accessible only to the company's

top-level executives.

Alicia then returned to Arthur's side with a satisfied smile. "At least I'm content that I taught that stupid

Marco a lesson," she said, laughing.

Arthur smiled back at her. "Don't you remember that he was one of the people who donated to you,

Alicia?"

"Really?" Alicia replied, raising an eyebrow. "I think I just beat him up enough as a way of saying thank

you. If not, I would have put him in the hospital already."

"Oh really, Alicia?" Edna said, smiling and teasing her. "I thought Marco might be in the hospital for a

few weeks after getting that kick from you. Tsk...you're too sadistic for a woman, you know."

"But," Alicia answered with another joke, "while Edna Unnie stands on the right as an angel, it's only

fitting that I, who stand on the left, serve as the demon, isn't it?"

From a distance, Arthur was unaware as a blonde-haired woman with a worried face ran towards him,

clutching her pregnant belly in an effort to keep steady in her high heels. She called out, "Arthur... it's

me, Arthur.... I miss you."
