Chapter 31 – The Painful Breaking Up (Part 1)
Cedric’s POV
I haven’t been with Almira for a few weeks. She’s always busy … I don’t know if she’s really busy or she’s just avoiding me. How many times have I tried to call her but the line is always busy? I’m frustrated … I want to see her and talk to her… and I want to ask her if I’ve done anything wrong for her to stay away from me. I also tried to go to their house but she was always gone. I’m really wondering why she’s acting like that. She wasn’t like that back then. She was just starting to avoid me the day I took her to their house. I don’t know why she became like that… All I know is that her family will have something to talk about. I called her mom as well. Her mommy also wondered what she was doing. Her mom said she had been avoiding them since the day I left their house.
I’m worried about what my girlfriend is going through. I wonder what she is going through now … I want me by her side and helping her. But how can I help her if she herself walks away and avoids me?
I just grabbed my hair tightly and knelt down on my desk. I’m in the library right now … I’m speculating that Almira might come here. But I was disappointed again. I was about to get up when I saw one of his friends. It’s Dina. I approached it immediately.
“Dina.” I call her.
She seemed to hear me so she immediately turned around.
“Oh… It’s you Ced, Why? Do you need anything?” she asked smiling.
“Ah… I just wanted to ask if Almira came in today?” I asked her.
We have a different course that Almira took and is attending in college today so I don’t really know what she does.
“Yes, she came in. By the way… She wanted to tell you to just meet next week. She said you two are going to talk about something.” said Dina.
Suddenly my forehead frowned. What are we going to talk about? Almira looks serious because the tone of Dina’s speech seems to be important which Almira and I will talk about next week.
“About what?” I asked in astonishment.
“She didn’t say anything about that. But it seems important.” Dina replied.
“Where are we supposed to meet?” I asked her.
“In the place where you two always meet.” she replied.
I looked down and frowned even more.
“All right, I’m leaving. I need to go back to the classroom right away because Almira needs these books listed on the paper.” said Dina.
I just nodded and smiled at her. When Dina left, I sat down in a chair.
What are we going to talk about? I’m nervous… On what she’s going to say.
Fast-forward…
The day has come when Almira and I will meet. since Dina told me that Almira wanted to meet me I couldn’t sleep well. I don’t know why I feel so heavy inside. I don’t know why I’m nervous.
I sighed and walked out of my room. Mom and Dad are not here right now. They are in Patras, Greece and they are busy with their new project being done there. Dad said that they would build the Family Hospital there and that Dad’s adoptive parents and siblings would take over that hospital. Yes, you heard right… He was just an adopted son of my grandfather and grandmother. As far as I know, Dad is an orphan and my grandparents adopted him. Although they already had children, they still adopted Dad.
When I reached downstairs, our female head servant/butler, Hermana Gordita, immediately greeted me.
“Young master, Why aren’t you dressed yet? Don’t you have school today?” Hermana Gordita asked me in astonishment.
Ahh, Anyways… Do you remember Nina? The one I introduced to you guys… the girl who’s studying and when she is not in school, she helps her mother? Well, Hermana Gordita is her mother.
I just smiled before answering her.
“Hermana… I’m going somewhere.” I explained.
“Young master… You might get late for your class. Where are you going anyway?” she asked in surprise.
“I’m going to see Almira today, Hermana.” I answered.
“Is that so? You haven’t seen each other for almost a few weeks now huh? It’s good that you’ll see each other.” said Hermana Gordita. “But isn’t it Monday? Should you probably be in school today.” she added.
“We do have classes today but… The teachers have a meeting this morning with the principal… Sooo… Our class will be half-day and our class is this afternoon.” smiling I replied.
“Good… I thought you were planning to take cutting classes so you won’t go to your school today.” she said then sighed.
“Hermana… I’m not like that. And I’m still studying hard. I don’t want to waste my time on useless things.” I said laughing.
“All right, go ahead. Maybe your wife is waiting for you.” teasingly said Hermana.
“Are you serious Hermana, wife really?” I said laughing.
“Why? That’s also where the two of you will end up with.” she said laughing.
I just laughed and then said goodbye to her. I got in my car and started it. I immediately went to the treehouse where Almira and I used to meet. That treehouse was abandoned and it was close to a white mansion. old … white mansion.
When I arrived I noticed immediately that there was a car parked there and that I immediately recognized who it was.
“She’s already here.” I whispered.
I immediately went down to get to the top. When I arrived, a woman with her back turned startled me. I almost fell in fear because I waited for her to be dressed differently. Do you know what a white lady or Sadako looks like? That’s what she looks like… Because her hair is so long that I can hardly recognize her.
“Ced?” I was suddenly able to stand up immediately.
“B-Baby? Why do you look like that? You look like Sadako!” startled I told her.
“I’m sorry … Aren’t you used to my long hair?” she asked smiling.
“I do… Uhm… I miss you.” I said and then hugged her.
I thought if I hugged her, She would hug back me like before. She is really acting weird. I no longer really knew what was going on with her. What was on her mind?
I just shrugged my shoulders and parted from hugging her.
“Baby, what are we going to talk about now?” smiling I asked her.
“Look Ced… There is something I really need to tell you. It is really important… I really need to tell you this… Please don’t be mad at me.” she said and looked down.
“Why should I be angry with you baby? I love you so much that I can’t be angry with you.” I said laughing.
“That’s exactly my point, you love me so much so when you find out, you might hate me.” the apprehension was evident in her speech.
“I don’t understand, why would I hate you?” astonished I asked her.
“Ced…”
“Now you calling me Ced now? You’re not like that Almira. I’m wondering why you call me by my nickname, that’s not what you call me, right? Our call sign is ‘Baby’… what’s going on? Why would you call me by my nickname? ” I said at length.
“Ced! Listen to me.” she said and held my hands.
“Okay… I’m listening.” I answered.
“I don’t know if… I can still continue this relationship.” she says.
“What? W-What do you mean?” astonished I asked her.
“Look Ced… This isn’t working, anymore.” she says. “Technically, This isn’t working from the start.” she added.
“What? I really don’t understand what you’re saying.” I said and stared at her. “What do you mean to ‘Technically hasn’t worked since the start’?” I added.
“Cedric. You can’t understand me… the what’s my reason why I wanted to break up with you.” she said and then her tears continued to flow.
“What? I don’t… What? Almira… Explain it to me! I need to understand!” I almost shouted at her in astonishment.
She got down on her knees and started to cry. I grabbed my head and held back my tears.
“I-I’m really sorry Ced…” she said while sobbing.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“God, Almira. Please explain to me.” I said and then sighed to stop my tears from falling. “Did I do something wrong that made you want to break up with me? If there is, Please tell me… Just don’t throw away our four-years relationship.”
“Ced, there are things you still don’t know about me… the real me!” she said and then stood up.
“What else are the things I don’t know about you? In our four-year relationship, I know in myself that I already know you very well. Even your whole family.” I said again.
“You don’t know what I’m going through. Ced… I’m too tired to hide.” she says.
What does she mean by hiding?
“I’m tired of pretending I’m not! I’m tired of pretending for my parents!” she said as her tears flowed one after another.
“What do you mean Almira?” astonished I asked her.
“You’ll only hate me when you find out my secret.” she said and then turned away from me.
“I’m listening Almira. I want to know your reason so that I can be enlightened.” I answered her.
She looked down …
“It hurts Ced … I love you, at first it’s hard to accept… but I need to do it for my parents, they have a lot of expectations of me. As their only daughter. Even though I knew in myself that I didn’t like it, I did it just for my parents. Only my older brother and I know who I really am. ” she said and sat on the sofa. “Please… I hope you don’t get angry when I tell you the truth.” she says.
“I won’t. I promise.” I answered.
“Then here it goes—”
