The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 191

Matthew turned around to see Tessa standing there. He told Lorraine to play by herself before approaching Tessa. "Didn't I tell you not to come here?"

Tessa felt even more upset when she heard how cold he sounded. "I... You didn't answer my calls."

He asked coldly, "What are you here for?"

She wiped her tears. "Why did you cripple Xavier? I know I did you wrong, and I know I made mistakes. But things are already hard enough for me as it is, and the company's about to go bankrupt. Can't you just let me off the hook? Do you have to be so cruel?" "Cruel?" Matthew's anger surged upon hearing her words. He grabbed her by the collar and lifted her off her feet. "Did you just call me 'cruel?' Do you know what Xavier did to Lori?"

Tessa looked into Matthew's red eyes as she dangled in the air. The first thing she thought of was how Xavier had ended up, which frightened her. This was her first time being so afraid of Matthew.

It seemed that she'd been wrong in the past-it wasn't that he wasn't ruthless enough. He was just too scary for words when he wanted to be ruthless.

For a moment, she was too scared to say anything. After a while, she returned to her senses and said, "Xavier is Lori's uncle. As my mom always says, Lori will always have her parents to rely on. "And if she doesn't, she'll have her uncle. What could he have done to her when she's his niece? It's not like he would've harmed her!"

The image of Lorraine being bound and gagged while lying on the floor with a dozen armed men around her flashed in Matthew's mind. His murderous intent grew, and his face twisted with rage. He looked at Tessa with such ferocity that he resembled a savage beast that was about to consume its prey.

"He kidnapped Lori just so he could lure me over there to kill me! And if he'd taken me out, there would've only been one way out for Lori-death! Do you know what that fucking means?" Tessa turned as white as a sheet. She finally understood why Matthew had gone to such extremes.

Lorraine was the person he cared about the most. He'd been willing to get a divorce without a penny in his pocket just so he could have custody of Lorraine. However, Xavier had kidnapped her. "I... I... I'm sorry. I'll apologize to you on Xavier's behalf. He... he deserves what he got!" she stuttered.

Matthew stared at her for a long while before releasing her. "My patience is limited, so don't test me. You've seen me kill before! Now, get lost!"

A chill ran down Tessa's spine. The things she'd witnessed at Rose Bar flashed in her mind.

She'd been actively avoiding thinking of that place for the past few days, but now that Matthew had mentioned it, she suddenly recalled how ruthless he'd looked when killing.

She broke out in a cold sweat as she watched Matthew turn and leave. Earlier, she was sure she'd sensed his murderous intent. She had no doubt that she would've ended up dying a horrible death if not for her being Lorraine's mother.

Suddenly, she laughed, feeling melancholic. She couldn't believe she'd thought Matthew, who had the courage to murder without blinking an eye and who was worth billions of dollars, was a worthless loser. She'd thought he was a peasant who wasn't worthy of her,This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

In truth, Tessa had come to see Matthew for something else. It hadn't just been to question him over Xavier being crippled. She'd wanted to borrow some money from him too.

Jeffrey had initially agreed to fund

her, but he was now dead. Evergreen

Group was already running out of cash for its daily operations, and it seemed Matthew was the only one who could help her.

Yet, Xavier had thoroughly pissed Matthew off, and she hadn't even gotten a chance to ask the latter for help. She turned and walked away, looking distraught.

...

The following day, Matthew had just arrived outside Wealthwave Group's building when he saw Rachel standing there, looking a little anxious. "What are you up to?"
