The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 187

Matthew's eyes burned bright with anger as he swung a fist at the dog. It was filled with such force that it seemed to whistle as it hurtled through the air.

The dog was sent flying, and it crashed against some flower pots, shattering them. The dog laid on the ground, whining in pain as blood trickled from its mouth. It looked like it wouldn't last much longer. Jennifer was frightened by this. Only then did she realize just how terrifying Matthew was. Her tone became a lot weaker when she asked, "What do you want, Matthew?"

He roared, "Xavier took Lori. Where is he? I'll kill him if he harms even a hair on Lori's head!"

This scared Jennifer. After what had happened the last time, she knew Matthew only looked mild-tempered on the surface.

He would turn into a completely different person if Lorraine was dragged into the picture. He would become so manic that it was as if he wouldn't stop at anything.

It hadn't been that long since then, but Xavier had gone after Lorraine again. She panicked. "I- I'll call him and ask. Give me a second!"

She pulled out her phone and dialed Xavier's number. "Xav, where are you?"

Lorraine was bound and gagged as she laid on the floor of an old factory. Xavier was with her, along with over a dozen burly men. They all held weapons.

Xavier sounded confident as he asked, "Why are you calling, Mom?"

Jennifer was about to say something when Matthew snatched the phone from her. "Where are you, Xavier? I don't care what you want or what you have in mind. You'd better not touch Lori, or I'll make you wish you were dead!" Xavier sneered. "Cut the crap, Matthew. Do you think I'm still the same man I used to be? Lorraine's in my hands, and I'll give you 30 minutes to get here.

"If you don't, I can't guarantee she'll remain safe and sound."

Matthew was beyond anxious. He couldn't believe that Xavier, who was Lorraine's uncle, could say something like that. He was inhumane!

Matthew couldn't imagine what Xavier was capable of. He said, "Tell me where you are, and I'll be there."

Xavier cupped a hand over his phone and looked at the armed man beside him. "Are you ready? Should I tell him to come right now?"NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

The man made an OK sign. Upon getting the green light, Xavier said, "I'll send you my location. Remember to be here in half an hour, or all you'll see is your precious daughter in a body bag!"

He hung up after that. Matthew was so anxious that he started emanating murderous intent. It seemed to turn him from a human into a man-eating beast.

When Xavier sent Matthew the location, he flung the phone aside and jumped into his car, heading straight to where the former was.

...

With a loud crash, a car rammed

into the entrance of an old factory in the northern suburbs of Lambda.

The door bent out of shape from the force of the crash, and the car

started smoking benea

hood.

Matthew jumped out. Almost immediately after that, the car burst into flames, but they were no match for the flames of Matthew's rage.

He ran into the factory, ignoring the car as it exploded behind him with the flames shooting toward the sky.

He stopped when he saw Lorraine. She was bound and gagged but seemed unharmed. His heart finally settled in his chest as he approached her. Xavier stood beside an old, abandoned machine. "I didn't expect you to serve yourself up on a silver platter, Matthew!"

Matthew's eyes were filled with murderous intent, and his gaze was so icy that it was almost freezing the air.

Still, he didn't say anything as he headed straight toward Lorraine. All he wanted to do now was hold her in his arms.

Everyone watched him silently, as if unfazed by his approaching her. Matthew quickly reached Lorraine and unbound her. His voice was a little shaky as he said, "Don't be scared, Lori. I'm here."

He'd been in prison for three years-it was something he already felt like he owed Lorraine for. Now she had to experience a kidnapping despite her youth. He was genuinely afraid the experience would

traumatize her.

Tears streamed down her face. "I was so scared, Dad. These bad people kept talking about wanting to kill you. I- I wanted to call the police, but I didn't have a phone..."

She wept, and he gently dried her tears. "Don't be scared. I'm here to beat up these people. Let's play a game, okay? I'm gonna cover your eyes and roar like an animal. Let's test your courage."

She shook her head. "Let's head home first. This place scares me, and there are so many baddies around."

Matthew tied a piece of cloth around her eyes. "Be good, okay? Once I roar like an animal, they'll run for their lives."

Lorraine pursed her lips. "Okay. You can start now, Dad."

He lifted her into his arms once he was sure she couldn't see. At the same time, the men stood up and brandished their weapons.

Two of the men stood out like sore thumbs. They'd been seated on an old production line earlier, and they weren't like the other men at all.
