The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 534

Chapter 534

But Meredith stopped him.

She had been escaping from the reality. Finally she made up her mind. They shouldn't continue.

"Easton, stay in your room. I'll go out with your dad."

Meredith put the snacks that Derek bought on the table and went out with Derek.

Easton wanted to follow them, but Meredith refused.

"I have something to tell your father. Good boy, stay here, okay?"

She was serious, so Easton nodded and didn't insist on going with them.

Meredith led Derek to the coffee shop not far from the hotel and got a quiet table.

Derek followed her, wondering what she was going to say, but his instinct told him that maybe he

wouldn't be happy to hear her words.

"I'm sorry about what happened today. I didn't know that my mother had asked someone else to take

care of Easton. It was my fault."

Derek guessed that Meredith was hurt because of that.

So he took the initiative to apologize and explain to her.

"No, I'm not going to talk about that."

Meredith took a deep breath, "I think we shouldn't continue."

"I've fought for my love five years ago, but in the end, I was hurt. Now, I'm not in the mood to have a

relationship, nor do I know you stay with me because of love or guilt."

"Don't you know my heart?"

Derek became anxious. He really hoped Meredith could understand his love for her no matter what he

needed to do.

"Maybe yes..." Meredith lowered her eyes. "But will your mother support us? She never likes me. Will

your love for me fade? I'm not sure, and I don't want to gamble."

Meredith had never told him her thoughts.

Now she felt much better after telling him.

"I know she hurts you, but..."

'But I do love you.'

But Derek suddenly held back his words.

Because Violet was his mom even though they kept arguing.

Just as Meredith was Easton's mom, Violet was his mom.

It was impossible for him to ignore his mother because he wanted to be with Meredith.

"You know that well... Don't you?"

Meredith smiled faintly. Derek was smart enough to know what she was talking about.

She was no longer a naive girl, who thought that as long as she tried hard, she could win others' favor. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

She knew that was impossible. Prejudice was always there, making her unable to breathe.

She no longer wanted to have that experience again.

She was mature now.

"Yes..." Derek murmured.

And that was why he had swallowed his words.

Because he knew very well that if Violet didn't change her attitude towards Meredith, they could never

live a peaceful life.

But, should he let her go?

Derek saw Meredith was calm and organized even though they were talking about breaking up.

She was no longer the woman totally dependent on him five years ago.

"But what's your feeling? Mer, do you love me?"

Meredith was silent and her face darkened.

She didn't want to lie, because the man knew her so well that he would know she was lying.

The answer was obvious.

She still cared about him, even though she could not let go of the past. But she indeed had feelings for

him.

Their past was unforgettable.

The man had protected her and helped her out.

However, she had lost the courage to go through all the difficulties with him.

"I care about you. I feel sad when I see you being with other women."

Hearing Meredith's words, Derek felt surprised and happy.

"But I'm mentally exhausted because of the appearance of those women. I'm happy to be with you, but

I always felt uneasy because I'm afraid I have to leave you."

Meredith lowered her head, stirring the coffee. She felt insecure.

Derek could give her anything, but not a sense of security.

Of course, it wasn't all his fault. But she didn't want to share him with others.

She wanted a peaceful life.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know... So that's how you feel."

Derek looked at her and felt complicated.

He had tried to treat her well, tried to make amends for the past.

But now...

But it seemed he failed.

"You don't need to say sorry. I just feel like we're from different worlds. Maybe we shouldn't continue.

So...I quit."

Meredith felt pain.

However, she told herself that she should bite the bullet.

Stunned, Derek was unable to react.

Meredith forced herself to leave after paying the bill.

Derek didn't follow her out.

He wanted to, but his mind stopped him.

Meredith's words echoing in his ears.

He had thought that Meredith would be happy if he gave everything to her, but he had never thought

that maybe she didn't want that at all.

Did he really know what she wanted?

Derek was lost in thought, but his mind was in a mess.

He didn't know what to do now.

By the time he regained his senses, Meredith had already left.

He smiled bitterly at the empty seat.

That was their relationship. She was the one who left him and he tried to get her back... But no one

was happy.

Now, he didn't even have the courage to chase after her.

If he made Meredith unhappy and uneasy, should he let her go?
