The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 453

Chapter 453

Meredith went to the bathroom as the auction went on halfway.

She was walking with the hem of her skirt held in her hand. Around the corner, someone came from the

other side, she was caught off guard and bumped into that person.

"Ah..."

Meredith was startled and steadied herself, and then she found a young woman in a dress fell to the

ground.

Her expression changed and she immediately stepped forward to help her up, "Miss, I'm so sorry. Are From NôvelDrama.Org.

you okay? I didn't mean to bump into you."

Caroline stood up, patted the dust off her body, looked at Meredith up and down quickly, and then

raised a friendly smile.

"I'm okay. It's not your fault. I didn't expect someone to suddenly appear. I was so scared that I

accidentally fell to the ground. It has nothing to do with you."

Seeing her being nice and generous, Meredith was relieved and had a good impression of her. She

smiled and said, "I'm glad you're okay."

"Are you here to join the auction? There are so many exits and bathrooms in this auction house. It's

some sort of destiny to meet each other. Nice to meet you."

"My name is Caroline, and you?" Caroline asked suddenly.

Hearing her name, Meredith was stunned. Her son had reported to her every day. Every day, she could

hear the same name.

That name was Caroline. It was hard for her not to remember it.

Caroline, a young woman who suddenly moved into the Xaviers, the granddaughter of an old comrade

of Mr. Xavier, had returned home recently.

Meredith had never expected that the woman she accidentally bumped into would be Caroline. What a

coincidence.

Meredith's expression froze as she thought about it, and she quickly regained her composure, "My

name is Meredith. Nice to meet you."

Caroline had observed her expression, her eyes twinkling, and she thought to herself, "it seems that

Meredith has known about her?"

"Where did she find out? It couldn't have been Derek who told her, could it?"

Caroline couldn't figure out for a moment. Since this Meredith knew who she was, Caroline had an

idea.

"Meredith, what a nice name. Are you going to the bathroom? Let's go together."

As she spoke, she turned around and left. Meredith had no choice but to follow her.

Caroline stood by the table to refine her makeup. When she took out the powder box, she seemed to

be exerting too much force, and something inside dropped on the ground.

"Ah..."

She screamed in surprise, then hurriedly put her makeup tools in her bag and washed her hands.

Seeing this, Meredith subconsciously bent over to help her pick it up. It was the invitation to the party.

"Thank you, Meredith, but it's wet. Is it invalid? It's my first time attending a party like this. I don't know if

this invitation will be of any use later."

Meredith comforted her, "Don't worry. This invitation is just a confirmation. You won't need it later."

"Really? Then I'm relieved."

"Hey, I told my mother-in-law that I didn't want to come to this auction. She insisted that I should attend

more social activities since I've just come back." Caroline looked helpless.

Her words made Meredith's heart skip a beat, "Your mother-in-law?"

Caroline nodded, "Yes, my mother-in-law was invited to this auction. Actually, I'm not invited, but she

insisted that I should come with her."

As she spoke, she opened the invitation and showed it to her, "Here, see? It's not my name at all. It's

my mother-in-law's name."

Inside the invitation, the gold-gild printed name at the first line was very eye-catching. Violet's name

bumped into Meredith's eyes. Her hands clenched tightly, and she felt shocked.

"You... Are married?" Her face stiffened.

"No." Caroline shook her head.

Meredith bit her lips and lowered her eyes, "Since you're not married, what do you call..."

"Oh, you said why I called her mother-in-law? I haven't married her son, but soon will. She's my future

mother-in-law. She talks to me all the time about how good her son is and we are a perfect match."

"It was as if she wanted us to tie the knot right away. I feel embarrassed."

"And my future husband's grandfather, who is also looking forward to me marrying into their family,

well."

Caroline seemed not to notice that Meredith's expression was getting stiffer and stiffer. She kept talking

about this fake reality and in the end, she almost believed the story she made up.

"Caroline, I still have something to do, so I'm leaving first."

Meredith's mind was filled with what Caroline had just said, future mother-in-law, future husband.

These addresses constantly stimulated her brain nerves.

She couldn't help but smile bitterly. She thought that she should hate Derek to the extreme after

rejecting him again and again but in the end...

As long as it was about him, her emotions were still so easily affected. Even though her past with that

man was terrible, she could not escape the influence of that man.

She was not in the mood to be with Caroline, so she found an excuse and went out.

Looking at Meredith's somewhat embarrassed back, Caroline slowly turned around and looked at her

beautiful face in the mirror. Her lips slowly curled up.

Derek looked at Meredith, "Why have you been there so long?"

Meredith did not answer him, but remained silent.

He could not help but frown, feeling that something was wrong, but now it was not a good time to ask.

He could only change the topic, "Later on, there is a perfect jade bracelet of the early Qing dynasty. Do

you like it? I'll bid it for you."

Meredith still didn't respond and didn't even look at him.

Finally, the auction was over and they got in the car.

"Meredith? What's wrong with you? You don't look well. Are you feeling well..."

She slowly opened her eyes and looked at him expressionlessly, "I'm fine, just a little tired."

"Is it because working in A Department is under a lot of pressure? Do you need me to give you

someday off? You have to take care of yourself. Your health is the priority. Don't make me worried."

Derek said.

Meredith looked at him as if she didn't hear what he said and suddenly asked, "Derek, I want to ask

you a question."

"Please."

"... If one day you get married, can you give me custody of Easton?"

Derek slammed on the brakes. Even though he was a calm man, he was shocked by Meredith's

sudden question.

He looked at the woman next to him and his face turned gloomy uncontrollably. He really didn't

understand. They were fine just now. Why would Meredith suddenly ask him this question?

"Meredith, what's wrong with you? Did you hear something? Or did someone tell you something?"
