The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage

Chapter 2010

"Then use your pea brains and think!"

Frank strode up, bellowing, "If I really did kill the commissioner, why would I return instead of fleeing?

"Why should I bother wasting my breath defending myself against the likes of you? Do you pieces of shit think that you could stop me?! Hell, none of you can stop me even if I wanted to leave now!"

"What...?!"

All the martial artists present were left incensed by Frank's diss, but Frank was right.

Just from his earlier display of strength, Frank had shown that no one here could stop him if he wanted to leave.

"Also!"

Frank then whipped out an exquisitely crafted dagger, flinging it on the floor as he growled coolly, "If I did kill the commissioner, why would I keep the murder weapon instead of hiding it? Why would I leave evidence for your benefit? Or perhaps you think there are murderers who would deliberately reveal the murder weapon?!

"In fact, if I wanted to kill someone, I don't even need a murder weapon. I could just make them disappear if necessary instead of leaving evidence that could be traced back to me!

Every police officer was left speechless by Frank's speech, with even Podrick flushing, unable to muster a retort.

All the martial artists present actually calmed down as well, as they realized from Frank's words that something strange was afoot.

Nheless, Podrick snorted coldly. "Hmph! You can argue with pretty words all you want, but there's no question that you were alone in that room where the commissioner was murdered! You're the chief suspect, and you're not escaping punishment!"

"That is why I'm back!"

Frank reared his chin proudly. "I'll find the real murderer on my own and maintain my own innocence!" "Ahem, ahem..."

Just as a stalemate ensued, someone cleared his throat audibly.

It was far, but it somehow echoed into the air.

And for some reason, everyone seemed to hear the voice right beside their ears...

Soon, an elderly white-haired man in white robes emerged from the crowd of martial artists, twirling his beard as he smiled at Frank. "must admit that I'm impressed by your courage, Mr. Lawrence."

"You are...?" Stanley quickly asked, as he could see that the old man had a different air to him and appeared so suddenly like he simply teleported here.

"Hehe." The old man chuckled. "I'm but a humble elder of the Martial Alliance. You may all address me as Elder Fango."

"Elder Fango...?"

All the martial artists present were left trading glances they had never heard about someone with that name in the Martial Alliance.

On the other hand, Elder Fango was nodding in approval and smiling after studying Frank. "Not bad-you are a man of integrity, daring to take responsibility for this mess. One would expect nothing less of Governor Quill's grandson.

"What?!"

"S-Sir, are you saying that he's..."

Everyone was left stunned by Elder Fango's praise for Frank. "Oh, you weren't aware?"

Elder Fango appeared puzzled, but he soon stroked his beard and chuckled. "Right, I forgot to mention it... the bounty on Frank Lawrence's head is null. However, the gravity of the situation remains, and even the Martial Alliance is left shaken.

"Even with Governor Quill's protection, he's still guilty of assassinating a commissioner in broad daylight. There's no talking his way out of this, even if his life is spared."

Then, turning toward Frank, Elder Fango smiled. "And I have come precisely to oversee his punishment."
