Chapter 1409
"Dad..."
Lydia did a double take but hung her head and sighed. "He's someone from a completely different world. He saved Gene Pearce and is a martial artist, while I'm just a car sales girl. I'm not the right girl for him."
"Hehe..." Aaron chuckled. "But you ran into each other by chance, twice. What is that if not fate? And if fate is on your side, you should at least give it a try... Whether it works is another thing entirely." "Okay," Lydia nodded at her father's words, before checking her watch. "I need to get back to work, dad. I'll be going to Mr. Lawrence's house to finalize the paperwork."From NôvelDrama.Org.
"Good. Run along now." Aaron smiled, adding, "And don't forget what I told you."
"Yeah." Lydia smiled in wry amusement, taking the note with Frank's address out of her briefcase.
Melancholy showed on her face-she would certainly like to get to know Frank better, but cruel reality made it clear that she did not deserve him.
After asking around, she learned that Lanecorp's chairwoman and the heiress of the Turnbulls were close with Frank.
She really had no chance at all.
Sighing, she put aside those thoughts and drove the company car to Cologne Court.
It just so happened that Frank was not home, and Lydia was at once disappointed and sighed in relief.
There were no problems with the paperwork, so the formalities were fine even in Frank's absence.
Two hours later and everything was done, Lydia sighed in relief as the paperwork for the Bugatti Veyron was complete.
However, just as she was about to return to the dealership, her phone started ringing.
She picked it up and saw that it was her father.
Lydia smiled exasperatedly, presuming that it was her father asking if things went well with Frank.
However, even before she could say a word and answer the call, the familiar voice of a younger man spoke from the other end. "Hey, Lydia. Missed me?" "Who are..." Lydia did a double take, but her eyes soon widened. "Claude?!"
"Yeah, it's me. Hehehe..."
Claude chuckled on the other end. "I'm in Zamri Hospital right now... in your father's ward, to be specific. Unfortunately for you, I know Dr. Quill from administration, and he said that since the hospital is short on beds, your father would soon be moved-oh wait, I mean, thrown out."
"Stop it!" Lydia snapped, but her voice was shaking, and she already picked up her handbag to rush to Zamri Hospital.
"Oh, but I'm not doing anything-it's what Dr. Quill told me."
Claude's annoying laughter finally stopped, and he cleared his throat, his usual tone returning as he said quietly, "Kwarned you, Lydia. But what did you do? You never showed up, even though I waited an entire night for you. And there's a limit to my patience!"
Claude's voice turned sinisterly cold, and he punched the wall as he chuckled coolly. "You have half an hour, Lydia. If you don't show up at Zamri Hospital, your father and his hospital bed will be thrown out. Just watch!"
