The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage

Chapter 1228

Bob snorted. "I really thought you were a strong, independent woman and admired you. I didn't think you were that despicable!"

"Exactly. Beating up your own mother with someone outside your own family?! You're worse than an animal!"

"No you're worse than Kallum Gaetz!"

"Hah! I refuse to let myself be lumped together with the likes of you. People would think that we're the same if they find out that I work for an ingrate like you!"

"I quit!"

"Me too!"

"What future is there working for someone so heinous?!"

Other more excitable employees strode up and took off their employee IDs like Bob did, distancing themselves from Lanecorp right then.

To make things worse, Lily, Helen's secretary, ran up to Helen. "Ms. Lane, the board is calling for an emergency meeting..."

The purpose of said meeting was simply obvious-the board was ready to vote her out.

"No, listen to me. That's not it..." Helen argued feebly, but she was alone.

What strength did she have to stand against the angry mob? She could well be shouting futilely in the wind.

Nearby, Cindy was giggling smugly under her breath. "That's for messing with me, Helen!"

After all, Helen ended up far worse than she thought-she had only intended to force Helen to give up, that land without a fight. Getting payback for what happened before as well only made it all the more cathartic!

That was when a glowering Marco strode up and barked, "Shut up, all of you!"

As the lobby turned silent, he

continued, "How dare you insult Ms. Lane without caring to find out the truth!+ can vouch for Ms. Lane and Mr. Lawrence's characters-they are not what these three claim them to be!"

However, that only left the other employees scoffing.

"Come on, Mr. Hinds. Just tell us when you and that woman had a deal."

"Exactly. Or maybe it's that kind of a deal?"

"Hah! All the evidence is right here, and you'd still side with that demon. To think I thought you were just, Mr. Hinds! You're no different in the end!"

While the employees' insults left Marco fuming, he had to admit that he could not produce evidence.

And it would definitely be difficult to use his honor to bail out Helen....Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

"Forget it. Just give us the land,

Helen, and we can let it slide!" Gina

shouted at Helen just then,

distancing herself from Peter

because she had enough.

She actually did not want to see her daughter so miserably, being flayed alive publicly and possibly losing her job.

"I-I can't." Helen did a double take but shook her head. "Frank owns it. I can't decide for him."

"Well, where is he?!" Peter yelled, at once anxious.
