The Ex and Her Riches

Chapter 833 A Rare Moment Of Bliss

Chapter 833 A Rare Moment Of Bliss

Charles slowly pulled his luxury car over by the roadside. He couldn’t help but stare at Whitney

After she had bustled around for the entire day, deep fatigue lined her face.

As Charles recalled her bustling figure in the office, his hand subconsciously stroked her cheek and pinched the soft flesh.

After drifting off, Whitney slept for two hours straight. When she woke up, she was completely disoriented.

She promptly opened her eyes and realized she was still in the car. She quickly glanced to the side, only to be greeted by the sight of Charles resting with his eyes closed.

On instinct, she wiped the corner of her mouth, fearing that she might have done something ungraceful while asleep, such as drooling.

Sensing that the person beside him stirred slightly, Charles immediately opened his eyes. Turning to look at her, he asked in a hoarse voice, “You’re awake?”.

“Um, sorry. How long was I asleep?”

Outside, the sky had turned completely dark, leaving Whitney feeling somewhat lost.

Charles said calmly. “Two hours.”

Huh? Does that mean that he waited for me in the car for a whole two hours?

The light inside the car was dim, but with the illumination of the streetlights, Whitney could see that his cyes werebloodshot. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

She even had his jacket draped over her. It was already thoroughly imbued with her scent then.

Having kept him waiting for so long. Whitney felt somewhat embarrassed.

“What were you planning to do with me? Was I keeping you back from something important?”

If she had rld Charles’ affairs up because of her drowsiness, it would be her mistake.

Charley restarted his luxury car without uttering a word, simply returning to the Newton residence.

After taking a shower at night, Whitney was just about to sleep with a blanket in hand when Charles stopped her “Sleep on the bed.”

Whitney was stunned for a second, seemingly not understanding his meaning, staring at him with confusion in her eyes.

Meeting her dazed and adorable gaze, Charles climbed out of bed and snagged the blanket from her hands.

“Sleep beside me. Got it now?”

Sleep beside him?

Whitney was stumped. “I think I’ll sleep on the sofa. I wake up early, so I might disrupt you” You’re disrupting me right now.”

At that, words cluded Whitney.

A look of dissatisfaction showed on Charles’s face. He pulled her onto the bed and lay down.

His hand rested on her lower abdomen. Whitney involuntarily stiffened for fear that any movement might upset him.

That was her first time lying down next to him while fully conscious.

Staring at the bedside lamp, she felt a sudden wave of unease wash over her.

My heart is being so fast that if it weren’t for the blanket holding it down, it might just leap out of my chest, huh?

Thump!

Thump, thump!

The room fell silent. It was so quiet that they could clearly hear each other’s breathing and even heartbeats. Despite it being past midnight, Whitney showed no signs of sleepiness.

She couldn’t possibly fall asleep when Charles was sleeping beside her for once.

Nonetheless, she remained silent.

Charles shares her sentiments.

Her heartbeat was just too loud that it was keeping him from falling asleep.

Her scent was delightful, compelling him to inhale the fragrance of her hair.

Charles really didn’t like how she could affect his mood, yet he couldn’t help but want to get closer to her.

Such a feeling left him somewhat irritated, but unexpectedly, he found a bit of enjoyment in it.

The first rays of sunlight in the early morning streamed into the room.

Whitney woke up, only to discover in surprise that they were embracing each other.

On top of that, her hand rested on his waist.

Nothing happened last night other than sleeping, right?

She gently lifted her head and saw that Charles was still sound asleep.

His breath smelled pleasant, carrying a hint of sweetness.

When she was surfing the internet in the past, she once came across a saying that in the face of a man one liked one could sense his unique breath.

It would be irresistible, compelling one to yearn for a closer connection with him.

His eyelashes were long, casting a series of shadows on his eyelids.

In sleep, his sense of oppression was reduced significantly. Instead, he looked peaceful.

Whitney knew better than to disturb a sleeping tiger. She carefully got out of bed and went to wash up.

Downstairs, Jasmine was having breakfast. Seeing Whitney coming down the stairs, she greeted her

“Why did you get up so early, Whitney?

Jasmine had enrolled in a class she needed to leave at that hour. It was only seven o’clock, still early for work

“I had a good rest yesterday. I figured since there’s nothing much going on, I might as well go to the office for a look. I still have some work unfinished,” Whitney replied.

Indeed, she slept well last night.

Noticing the shy expression on her face, Jasmine gave her a knowing look. She quirked an eyebrow and said, “I’ll have the driver send you to the office first. What’s up with Charles? His wife is already up,

but he’s still sleeping.”

At her words, Whitney flushed bright red. After eating a few bites of breakfast, she hurriedly left.

On her way to the office, she kept reminiscing about the events last night.

Charles was very different last night.

The smile on her face was impossible to conceal. Whitney felt as though the air around her radiated love.

Upon arriving at the company, she greeted her colleagues warmly. Regardless of their responses, her mood was great.

It didn’t matter what others think. As long as she was happy, that was all that mattered.

Only a few people from the logistics department had arrived, and among them was Whitney’s team member. She greeted the girl. “Why are you here so early?”

The girlcemingly avoided Whitney’s gaze, stammering as she replied, “I… I still have some work left, so I came early.

Seeing her nervous expression, Whitney raised a hand in a fist before she started busying herself with her

At ten clock in the morning, Queenie’s assistant came over and called Whitney away.

“How did you carry out the task I entrusted you? I received feedback that everything you sent out yesterday ended up in the wrong hands. What exactly happened? And what about the bill for the items purchased? Why was the bill you submitted significantly higher than the actual amount? Are you trying to pocket pompany kickbacks through such a method?”

Queene threw the bill on the table, leaving Whitney utterly confused.

i told Xenia to submit yesterday’s bill to the company. Didn’t she check it properly?

The matter involved more than just Xenia, so she could only suppress her suspicions for the time being.

After carefully examining the bill, Whitney was startled to find a few items she hadn’t purchased yesterday. She quickly pointed mistake.”

Ms. Zeller, these teins weren’t what we purchased. There must be a

Queenie glanced at her before depressing the intercom and ordering, “Call Whitney’s team members over, as well as Lana and her team.”

In no time, the group of people arrived at her office.

“Well, why is the bill reported so much higher? Where did all these charges come from?”

Visibly upset, Queenie paced in front of them, distributing the bill to each person.

If that matter were verified by the higher-ups, she wouldn’t be able to continue being the department manager anymore.

Lana was the first to speak. “Ms. Zeller, this matter has nothing to do with us. I already handed over the things I bought and the bills to the finance department yesterday. There were no omissions. This matter is probably…”

She deliberately paused and cast a malicious glance at Whitney,
