Chapter 147 A Visit
“Miss Oliver, did you feel anything wrong when you were with this lady?” Patrick did not dispel his doubts about Trisha. After she left, he continued to ask Kristen.
Seeing the determination in his eyes, Kristen couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
In fact, he did look a bit like Ethan when he was working seriously.
“What’s wrong with her?” Kristen pretended to be confused. “Trisha is just a common girl, who also likes handsome guys and branded bags.”
After saying that, Kristen deliberately asked, “Even if Trisha participated in the auction you mentioned, so what? Did she snatch something that you wanted?”
Hearing that Kristen had said this, Patrick couldn’t go into detail about Tina, so he had to give up.
“I’ve got the auction item I wanted,” Patrick said with a smile. “It’s just that the process is a little complicated.”
Hearing Patrick’s words, Kristen remembered that he had spent as much as 14 million dollars buying the precious medicinal material. If it weren’t for Jorden being a mediator halfway through, Patrick would have bought it at a higher price.
Frowning, Kristen turned to Patrick, “Oh right, what are you doing at the auction? Why haven’t I heard that you’re interested in something like this?”
Thinking that Kristen would still know about it even if he didn’t tell her now, Patrick told her everything he knew.
“The thing is,” Patrick explained, “Mr. Wharton has already completed the heart transplant surgery, but Doctor M said that there are still some other kinds of medicinal herbs needed for his fully recover, which is the one I just bought at the auction.”
“What?” Kristen’s eyes widened in disbelief.
It turned out that the auction item that Trisha had almost snatched from Patrick to go against him was actually for Ethan, and Kristen herself had been secretly stirring up trouble while Trisha was making fun of Patrick.
When she thought of how Ethan almost missed out on the medicine, Kristen felt the fear lingering.
“I almost get Ethan into greater trouble.” Kristen felt surprisingly afraid. “Fortunately, Trisha didn’t take the herbs away.”
Without hearing Kristen’s mumbling clearly, Patrick said to Kristen, “Mr. Wharton has completed the operation now. I believe that with the help of medicine, he will soon recover. Miss Oliver, don’t you want to take a visit? I think he must desperately desire your visit.”
Even if Patrick had not mentioned it, how could Kristen not wish to visit him?
However, when she thought of what she had promised Heloise, Kristen couldn’t help but hesitate.
“When Ethan is fully recovered, I will marry Elvis as promised. Sooner or later, I will be separated from him.” The more she thought about it, the more uncomfortable Kristen felt. “Instead of being reluctant to part with him at that time, it is better to get used to life without him.”
Despite saying that, Kristen still couldn’t help missing Ethan.
Seeing that Kristen was silent, Patrick continued, “Now that I have got the medicinal materials, we are ready to set off for Nangania. Miss Oliver, why don’t you go back with me? It will definitely be a bigger surprise for him if we go to see Mr. Wharton together.”

“Anyway, I’ll have to face the truth sooner or later.” Kristen looked up at the sky and couldn’t help falling into deep thought. “One day, he will find out the truth.”
When she arrived at the place where Ethan was treating his illness, before Kristen could enter the ward, she met Heloise at the door.
“Why are you here?” Heloise was surprised. “Have you forgotten what you promised me? Or do you want to go back on your word after seeing that his surgery has succeeded?”
Heloise snorted. “I hope you won’t forget that Ethan hasn’t fully recovered yet. As long as I stop his treatment at any time, his health condition might take a turn for the worse.”
Hearing the threat in Heloise’s words, Kristen chuckled and said, “Auntie, take it easy. I’m not the kind of person to break my promise.”
For the sake of Ethan’s life, she would agree to do anything dangerous, let alone just leave him.
“That’s for the best.” Heloise narrowed her eyes slightly. “I heard that you and Elvis haven’t been getting along very well recently. Don’t forget that you two are going to get married soon. How can a couple not stay with each other often to strengthen your relations?”
“Rather than wasting your time on a patient, you’d better stay with Elvis more.”
Once again, Kristen understood Heloise’s hint in her words and took a deep breath.
In this way, it was time for her to bid farewell to Ethan.
“I have already said that I will keep my promise,” Kristen said seriously, “but I have my own way of dealing with things. I came here today to make it clear to Ethan. I believe that Auntie will be willing to give me some more time, right?”
With her assurance, Heloise made way for Kristen.
Arriving at Ethan’s door, Kristen couldn’t help but gather her courage, hoping that Ethan wouldn’t notice her strange behavior.
“Come on, Kristen. You can do it.” After adjusting herself a bit, Kristen opened the door.
“Didn’t I tell you?” Ethan thought that the person who had come in was Patrick, so he went straight to the point without lifting his head. “I’ll take a rest after I’m done with my business. The surgery was a success. I still have the energy to do this.”
Seeing how busy Ethan was with his work as usual as before, Kristen smiled and walked silently to Ethan’s side to sit down.
“Ethan, how can you disobey the doctor?” Kristen took away the contract in front of Ethan and said gently, “Work is endless. What matters most is your health. Do you want me to keep worrying about you?”
Hearing the familiar voice, Ethan couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
Lifting his head slowly, Ethan saw Kristen sitting beside him looking at him with gentle eyes. His voice trembled slightly as he said, “Kristen, is it really you? Am I dreaming?”
Kristen held Ethan’s hand tightly. “You’re not dreaming. I’m here.”
