Chapter 272 Pet

"Miss Bowman..." Caleb felt a bit awkward. Brendon wasn't just upset about the Cubrews company, but also because of Shannon...

But Caleb couldn't say that.

"Caleb, it's okay. I plan on staying for one more day and will go back by myself tomorrow. You can tell the driver not to come!"

"Miss Bowman, the driver is probably halfway there already. And Mr. Stuart is worried about you being alone."

If he was really worried, why did he leave her alone here for two days? NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

She was like a pet in Brendon's hands - if he felt like playing with her, he would; if not, she was left aside.

He seemed to know that his pet wouldn't survive without him.

He really was despicable.

"Okay... I understand," Ranita said before hanging up the phone. While checking her luggage later on, she realized that she had forgotten to buy souvenirs for her friends back home.

There was a wine cellar specifically for guests at the estate and Ranita felt dizzy looking at all of the different types of wine available there - she didn't know much about wine herself.

"Ranita? What are you doing here?" Suddenly someone called out from behind and Ranita turned around to see Chris standing tall at the door.

"Mr. Webster?" Ranita was quite surprised too, "What a coincidence."

"Yeah!" Chris walked closer and smiled slightly while lowering his head, "I'm doing some business nearby and I happen to know the owner of this estate who left me some good wine here so I came over to pick it up."

Ranita figured Chris must be more knowledgeable than herself when it came to wines so she asked him directly, "I came over for two days and wanted to choose some red wines as gifts for my friends back home... could you help me pick out a few?"

Chris did not refuse. He picked a few good ones for her. Knowing that one of them was for Dylan, he raised his eyebrows. "Have you known Dylan for a long time?"

"Huh?" Ranita paused briefly before answering, "We've known each other quite awhile now so we're close."

"Mm," Chris responded lightly. "We already have enough red wines at home so don't bother getting any more bottles just meant solely for him!"

"How about something else then? Like... fruit?"

In addition to the renowned winery in the vicinity, there were also some fruit plantations that offered a variety of fruits, which may be similar to those found in the market. However, what set them apart was the heartfelt experience they provided.

Ranita didn't think much further into it either before saying, "Alright then! He can't drink too much anyway so maybe I'll get him some fruits instead which Eve could share with."

Chris didn't even let her go buy it herself. After getting the red wine he wanted, he also had the vineyard owner send her a large box of fruit.

"Do you need a ride back?" Chris seemed to know everything, but he never said anything.

Ranita pursed her lips. "Brendon sent a car to pick me up."

"Okay then!" Chris paused before saying in a low voice, "If you need any help, just let me know."

Chris didn't leave immediately. He waited until the driver came and helped Ranita with her luggage before saying goodbye.

On the way home, Ranita slept soundly and only woke up when she was hungry after dark. She checked her phone and saw that Brendon had called several times without an answer.

As she changed clothes and called him back, she heard someone pushing open the door with long fingers. A man walked in confidently.

"Why haven't you been answering your phone?" Brendon enveloped her from behind with his arms around her waist. The warmth was mixed with nauseating sweetness from his cologne.
