The Divorced Heiress’s Revenge

Chapter 2226

Chapter 2226

In a mysterious mountaintop villa in Sentania, it was lush with greenery and scenic views.

The bedroom was dimly lit, and a calming fragrance emitted from an antique burner, the white smoke swirling, settling all restlessness, agitation, and noise into silence.

Bella lay peacefully on the soft, large bed, deep asleep.

She was still wearing her pristine, luxurious wedding dress, beautiful and fragile, so much so that one would hesitate to touch her. Even Sleeping Beauty would pale in comparison.

A tall and refined figure sat in a wheelchair, silhouetted against the light, quietly facing Bella's direction.

"Sir, I've checked her over. She doesn't have any external injuries." Having studied basic medicine, Clarice could manage a simple physical exam. "Her blood test results are out too. There's an anesthetic and sedative residue, but nothing harmful to her health."

She curled her lips slightly, her tone tinged with mockery. "I told you, Christopher loves her too much to poison her."

"Being cautious never hurts." Grant's elegant and handsome face softened, his voice clear and melodious. "It seems Ms. Bella has suffered quite a bit on the island. When I last saw her, my brother had kept her as radiant and delicate as a fine diamond. Now, she seems much thinner. But it doesn't matter. She's still breathtakingly beautiful."

"Sir, I've been with you for so long but rarely hear you compliment anyone."

Clarice's eyelid twitched. She tried to suppress her emotions but could not hide the slight bitterness in her tone. "You really care about Ms. Bella."

Grant's thin lips curled into a faint smile. "Are you jealous?"

Clarice bit her lip. "No..."

"Is that so? Or is it because you don't dare to?"

She lowered her head, utterly subdued. "No, and I wouldn't dare."Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

"Clarice, you are not inferior to others. If anything is lacking, it's that you're not patient enough, not calculating enough, and not calm enough."

Grant glanced at her with an ambiguous smile. "Don't forget what I told you to always keep on your mind."

"Don't get emotionally involved, don't fall in love, and don't look back."

Clarice gritted her teeth. "Without you, I wouldn't be reborn. Your constant guidance will stay with me forever, even in death."

"Emotions are unnecessary by my side. They lead to mistakes." Grant's deep eyes narrowed

slightly, like a hidden whirlpool. "What I need is only absolute loyalty."

He then asked Clarice to call in Jace, who was waiting outside.

"You worked hard this time. Your mission was completed very well." Grant smiled warmly, affirming Jace's efforts.

Jace's expression remained cold, neither joyful nor angry, as he respectfully bowed deeply to his boss.

However, his gaze involuntarily flickered toward the woman lying quietly on the bed.

Grant maneuvered his electric wheelchair out of the shadows and moved to the bedside. His long lashes lowered as he gazed at Bella's delicate sleeping face. He said, "When you took Ms. Thompson away, how was my brother?"

"Christopher gave Justin the three pills you gave him." Jace described monotonously without an expression. "Justin swallowed all three in front of him."

"What?!" Clarice's pupils constricted sharply as she looked anxiously at Grant.

Grant's handsome face remained as calm as ever, showing no discernible emotion.

After a moment, he chuckled lightly, completely at ease. "I guessed as much. Christopher loves Ms. Thompson too much to harm her."

At that moment, Jace suddenly asked, "Sir, what will happen to Justin after taking those three pills?"

Clarice was once again startled.

Since he was tamed by Grant, Jace had lost himself, becoming an emotionless "cleaner." He was always silent, indifferent to anyone or anything.

This was the first time in a long while that she had heard him ask the Boss a question.

"If it were anyone else, I could give you an answer. But if it's my brother, I really can't say for sure."

Grant looked at Jace's cold face, then smiled serenely, like the breeze over a clear moonlit night. "Justin's physique is different from ordinary people. He has more willpower, determination, and strength. Besides, his love for Ms. Thompson far surpasses Christopher's. So, who knows what will happen in the end? But I do hope Ms. Thompson's life can have a fresh start."

Clarice could not help but ask, "Sir, what do you plan to do next?"

Grant leaned down, gently touching the tip of Bella's delicate nose with his fingertip, as if afraid that even a slight force would break her.

"Send Ms. Thompson back."

"What? Send her back?!" Clarice's eyes widened in confusion. "If you never planned to keep her by your side, why did you go to all this trouble to bring her here?"

"Yes, why indeed?" Grant pondered for a moment and smiled faintly. "Maybe I just missed her and wanted to see her."

Clarice and Jace both fell silent. No one could ever fathom the Boss's true thoughts. He never revealed his heart, which was why he had no weaknesses.

"Clarice, get ready." Grant turned away, absentmindedly twisting the ring on his finger. It was a ring engraved with a phoenix logo, the crest of his mother's family, and a relic from her. "It's time for me to go home."
