Chapter 2176
Bella stared intently at the seemingly endless road ahead as she drove a black sedan, following the GPS directions to the Rose Nursing Home. As per Christopher's instructions, she had turned off her phone.
She knew that her sister would soon realize she had left the house and would likely do everything in her power to search the entire city and locate her phone.
The lush, verdant scenery outside the window blurred into a swift-moving backdrop.
Bella's gaze was solemn. Her delicate hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, brows furrowed with deep, unshakable concern.
After driving for a full hour, the black sedan made a sharp, decisive drift and stopped in the courtyard of the flower-filled nursing home.
Bella stepped out of the car, her long legs moving gracefully as she cautiously surveyed her surroundings.
To her surprise, this was a fully operational nursing home. There were vehicles belonging to other visitors in the parking lot, and people coming and going appeared normal, showing no signs of anything unusual.
However, Bella did not let her guard down. With a heart full of apprehension, she walked step by step toward the entrance.
Inside the spacious and bright lobby, colorful paintings adorned the walls, vibrant greenery was everywhere, and caregivers were attentively tending to the elderly.
Everything seemed warm, peaceful, and serene.
"Hello, Miss. Are you Ms. Thompson?" A nurse approached her and asked politely.
Bella's brows knitted together. "How do you know who I am?"
"Mr. Iverson, the major shareholder of our nursing home, showed me your photo earlier. He instructed me to wait for your arrival. Now that you're here, Mr. Iverson asked me to take you to meet someone." The nurse replied frankly.
"Who am I meeting?"
"Mr. Iverson's mother."
Bella's eyes widened in surprise.
"Mr. Iverson mentioned that it has been a long time since you and Mrs. Iverson have seen each other. Mrs. Iverson misses you very much and has many things she wants to talk to you about. Please follow me."
...
The nurse led Bella to the back garden.
On the mirror-like surface of the lake, two white swans played, their necks entwined, creating a beautiful and serene scene.
By the lakeside, a graceful yet frail figure sitting in a wheelchair came into view.
It was Mrs. Iverson.
Bella took a deep breath and walked slowly toward the woman, her heart inexplicably heavy.
Although she harbored a deep
hatred for Christopher, she did not
hold any resentment toward Mrs. Iverson. Even though Mrs. Iverson had given birth to a son who had become a ruthless and heartless monster, it was not her fault.
This woman, burdened with her husband's misunderstanding and contempt and plagued by illness, had suffered enough. She was truly pitiable.
"Mrs. Iverson," Bella softly called as she approached her. Her eyes lit up with surprise.
Today, Mrs. Iverson wore an elegant,
luxurious dress, with delicate

Though not dyed black, her gray hair

Despite being excessively thin, she still faintly resembled the once dignified and graceful matriarch of the Iverson family, exuding an air of nobility and elegance.
