Chapter 2108
Chapter 2108
Taylor opened the hospital room door with a sullen expression. A smiling, unfamiliar nurse stood outside, holding a tray.
"Hello, Mr. Iverson. It's time for your medication. Delaying it could affect your condition," she said.
"You're not the regular nurse on duty," Taylor remarked warily, scrutinizing her.
"I was just transferred here yesterday. My name is Cece. The previous nurse was in a car accident, and we're short-staffed." Cece explained. "Rest assured, I've signed a confidentiality agreement. I won't reveal anything I'm not supposed to."
"Come in," Taylor responded coldly, stepping aside to let her through.
The nurse entered and placed the tray on the bedside table. Just as she was about to touch Christopher, he spoke in a firm voice. "You're not needed here. My secretary can handle the injection. Leave."Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
The nurse hesitated at first, then obediently left the room.
The moment she was gone, Christopher could no longer hold himself together. He wrapped his trembling arms together while his facial muscles twitched uncontrollably. "Taylor... I can't take it anymore...!"
Taylor, unable to bear Christopher's suffering, reluctantly administered the medication despite knowing it was akin to drinking poison to quench thirst.
After a while, Christopher's trembling ceased, and his face began to regain some color. Taylor sighed, torn between helplessness and frustration. He found it increasingly difficult to discern whether the mysterious benefactor had truly elevated Mr. Iverson or utterly destroyed him.
"Taylor, take this medication to Dr. Cobb for testing. Also, investigate the background of that new nurse," Christopher ordered, his gaze lingered on the used syringe on the tray.
"Yes, Mr. Iverson, I'll handle it right away." He understood the unspoken command.
Before long, Taylor returned to the room, looking noticeably more relaxed. "Mr. Iverson, the medication has been verified, it's fine, and Cece's background is clean. The previous nurse did indeed get in a car accident and broke her leg,"
"Good, no problems then. You can leave now. I need to rest." Christopher closed his eyes, his mind replaying the visit from Bella earlier. He could still imagine her warmth, and her sweet scent still lingered in the air.
The drugs induced powerful feelings of anxiety and even hallucinations. It was the real reason he could not quit them. He felt as though he was being enveloped in the tender embrace of his beloved Bella. That she was right by his side, caring for him, smiling at him...
"Bella... I really love you. You've always lived in my heart, in my body, and you've never left me."
Even if all she felt for him was hatred, it still brought him a twisted sense of satisfaction.
Late at night, after finishing her shift, the nurse exited the hospital through the back door and got into an ordinary black sedan. Ten minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance of a dark alley.
The nurse hurriedly got out, looked around cautiously, and slipped into a waiting van parked in the alley. "Ms. Thompson!" Cece was thrilled to finally meet Bella, she felt like she was meeting a celebrity, "Wow... You're even more beautiful in person than on TV! You're like a goddess! Cameras don't do you justice!"
Steven, who was sitting in the driver's seat, could not help but chuckle, wholeheartedly agreeing with the sentiment.
"You flatter me, Cece." Bella smiled warmly as she handed over a prepared cup of hot coffee. "Take a break and have some coffee first."
