Bella felt a tightness in her chest. She gestured to Steven and continued questioning Axel.

"Is this true? Are you sure?!"

"Mayor Solloway has always been very cautious. He wouldn't say something like that without being absolutely certain, which is why his political career has been so smooth over the years."

Axel's tone grew serious. "So, I believe it's true. Bella, is this an arranged marriage for Carrie? Will she agree to marry someone she doesn't love? Will she be happy after that?"

"Don't worry, Miss. Our men have followed her to Meridan and will continue to monitor Bethany closely."

Bella's gaze grew uneasy again. She glanced at her watch.

"Steve, get the car ready."
