Carrie curled up in the dusty corner, shivering in the cold despite it being the height of summer.

At this moment, Jason, who had been silent all the time, walked to Carrie. He took off his uniform jacket and draped it around her shoulders as he squatted down.

She was about to thank him when she realized that he was staring straight at her soaked chest.

The young lady was just entering puberty, so her small breasts were faintly visible. Her white bra could be seen through her soaked shirt.

Carrie screamed faintly in panic as she covered her chest with trembling arms.

"Carrie, let me touch it, okay? Just once. Nobody will know about it."

The boy sputtered vile and offensive words with a sincere tone, much like a demon's murmur.

When she recalled it now, Carrie still felt as if she were falling into an icy lake, a chill spreading throughout her body.

"I know why you are so desperate to marry Carrie off."

Justin clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. "If you're mad, you can come at me. As a parent, you shouldn't sacrifice your daughter's lifelong happiness for a moment of satisfaction!"

"Justin, have you learned how to insult people in a roundabout way from that Thompson girl? You're villainizing my good intentions!" Gregory pointed at Justin's face angrily. "Carrie is my daughter. Why will I harm her? All of my choices are for her own good!"

Just in sneered without hesitation, "You're thinking about your own future. Entering into a marriage alliance with the Solloways would benefit the Salvador family and you."

The air froze, dropping to an icy point.

Gregory's face went from red to white. His son tore away his mask, which only added to his anger.

He roared, "That's still better than the man you found for Carrie!"

Carrie closed her eyes tightly, tears welling up.

"Now, everyone in Savrow knows about Carrie and Ryan. My daughter has already been bullied miserably by them, and she still has to become the talk of the town, being pointed at every time she goes out. This is the good match you arranged for her! This is what your best friend has done!"

Justin's face was cold. He knew Gregory would use this to criticize him harshly.

Ryan and Carrie were deeply in love. Ryan was innocent, but the sins of the Hoffman family could not be erased or debated.

"You sent my daughter, your weakest sister, into that lair full of tigers and lions. She suffered humiliation and schemes before even marrying into their family! Do you think so lowly of your sister? What's wrong with a marriage alliance with the Solloways? She's not at a disadvantage!

"At the very least, the Solloways are powerful and noble, unlike the Hoffmans, who are a family of gangsters! Logan built his empire with the mafia. What decent grandson could he raise? I think Ryan is just following in Logan's footsteps!"

Gregory was so mad that he spoke without a filter, saying whatever came to his mind.

"Dad! Enough... Stop talking about Ryan like that!"

Carrie could not endure it anymore. Tears streamed down her face. "Ryan has always been good to me. He never mistreated me! We've already broken up, and I'm not with him anymore. Don't talk about him like that!"

"Carrie..." Justin felt a pang of pain in his heart, rendering him speechless.

Ryan and Carrie had gone through so much to be together, but now that they were about to find

happiness, everything went back to the starting point.

Why did fate have to toy with these lovers? What did they do wrong?

Seeing his usually obedient daughter talk back to him, Gregory's face went pale.

After hearing that she had broken up with Ryan, his expression eased. He said patiently, "It's good you broke up. Those types of men are unfaithful in their blood. Their affection is all an act. He can't keep it up forever. It's nothing to mull over. You will only find true happiness if you follow my arrangements."

"I will never agree to Carrie marrying that man!" Justin's eyes burned with fury. "He has something going on with Zoe and might be up to no good either. You keep saying the Hoffman family is a lair of beasts, but is the Solloway family a paradise? You're only using Carrie as a tool to gain benefits!"
