Chapter 1812
Mayor Solloway put on his best display of kindness and understanding while remarking cheerily, "Especially my son! He had a crush on Carrie since he was in school and simply could not forget about her since the time they met at the Iverson's party. He's obsessed with Carrie, so you don't have to worry about a thing at all. It's not a problem for us!"
Mrs. Solloway chimed in, "If you think about it, our son and your daughter are childhood sweethearts!"
Bethany snickered to herself upon hearing the remark.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
At least they got the part about childhood sweethearts right, but it unfortunately did not apply to Carrie.
Gregory's tightened frown relaxed slightly upon hearing this.
After that, the Solloways got into the car and left Tideview Manor. The couple sat on one side of the car, while Jason sat across from them.
"It looks like you left a decent impression on Chairman Salvador."
Mayor Solloway noted, with his legs crossed. Judging by his lighter tone, it seemed like he had thought things through. "That little brat may not deserve you, but you do have a point that marrying her will be very helpful for my future election. Besides, if you were to become Gregory's son-in-law, it would help you get a big leg up in your future career prospects."
Jason wore a blank expression the entire time, with an unwilling look in his eyes.
Mayor Solloway noted his expression and sneered. "If you think about it, it's good that the girl has a mental condition. We wouldn't want her to start pushing us around when she marries into our family and stir up trouble for us. Just wait for a few years for her condition to worsen. By then, you would have cemented your position as her guardian and would get to claim whatever assets her family assigns to her." Mrs. Solloway stated with a spark in her eyes, "My son, you are the key to your father climbing up the ladder. His future is in your hands now."
She seemed very eager to take advantage of the marriage.
Meanwhile, Jason stared outside the window with a dark look in his eyes. He was thinking about what Zoe told him.
After the Solloways were gone, Bethany, who could hardly stand after her antics last night, was just preparing to head upstairs to rest when Gregory stopped her.
"How did you know that Mayor Solloway and his wife were here to discuss the marriage?"
Bethany was immediately thrown off guard and at a loss for words.
Her mind raced as she stammered her way through. "Oh... Haha, I just noticed they brought their son atong and seemed very excited with the presents. I figured they must be here to talk about marriage.
"Dad, are you... Are you going to wed Carrie to Jason Solloway?"
Gregory's hawk-like eyes narrowed slightly. A glacial, mysterious look flashed across them as he remarked, "As things stand, it's not going work out between Carrie
and Ryan. Still, that doesn't mean
my daughter should be left out to dry."
Upon hearing this, Bethany smirked smugly.
"I was only wondering who was working with the Hoffmans to set up my daughter."
Gregory hissed between his teeth.
"There is nothing I hate more than being betrayed. If I find out who was behind it, I am going to make them
regret ever having done that."
Bethany's joy immediately deflated in a matter of seconds. She felt as if her heart had sunk to the bottom of her stomach.
At that point, they heard footsteps coming from outside the living room.
Soon, Justin, Matt, and Nigel, who was in a wheelchair, entered the living room.
Justin fixed an intense look at Bethany's rigid expression while addressing Gregory. "How rare it is that we share the same thoughts this time."
