Chapter 1796
Chapter 1796
A faint voice caught their attention from behind.
Ryan and Dean quickly turned around and saw Yasmin slowly approaching them, limping on crutches for support.
Ryan was stunned; his eyes widened in surprise.
Dean's face drained of color as he anxiously rushed to assist her, exclaiming, "Master! What happened to you?!"
Yasmin endured the intense pain and shook her head faintly. "I'm fine..."
"Fine?! Your leg is so badly injured, how can you just bandage it casually? What if it gets infected? You could become crippled!" Dean was so heartbroken that he was almost in tears.
Dean and Yasmin had known each other since they were children in training camp. Their bond was beyond words.
"This is not important. What matters is Young Madam... Young Madam..." Yasmin's voice wavered with guilt, and she trailed off. Her gaze settled on Ryan's stern, handsome features, tears welling up in her eyes.
Dean spoke in a low voice, without any trace of joy, "Young Madam is unharmed, but she has endured a great shock and remains unconscious."
Yasmin immediately broke down in tears. Having been by Carrie's side for so long, how could she not understand the devastating impact of such a profound mental shock on the poor girl?
Ryan approached her step-by-step, his voice raspy. "What happened to your leg?"
"It's nothing..."
"Don't lie to me!"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Hoffman." Yasmin remained silent, lowering her head in shame. "I failed to properly protect Young Madam. I am utterly incompetent. You should arrange for tighter security and more capable bodyguards to guard Young Madam. I am no longer fit for this duty."
"Master, what are you saying? You're one of the best bodyguards around, even among the Hoffman family or across the country. How many female bodyguards can match your skills? Even most male bodyguards can't keep up with you!"NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
Dean made an excellent point. In order to injure Yasmin to this extent, it must have been someone on the level of Justin or Drew, who graduated from military academies. It was hard to imagine anyone else with such terrifying skills.
Even if Ryan hired more bodyguards, it wouldn't change the situation.
"I don't think Chairman Hoffman or Liam's men are behind this trouble. I know all their people, and even if I didn't, I'm confident they don't have the skills to pull this off." Yasmin recalled carefully, a cold sweat running down her back. "That man must be a professional assassin."
Ryan's eyes were cold, his pale fingers gripping tightly.
"But the strange thing is, that man didn't harm Young Madam, nor did he harm me. He stabbed my leg just to prevent me from stopping him..."
Yasmin frowned and continued, "Then I was blindfolded and didn't know where I was taken. After that, I was thrown by the roadside. They did nothing else to me."
Ryan's mind raced, clarity surfacing amidst the immense heartache. "Even if that man isn't one of Liam's people, he was certainly acting under his orders. Otherwise, he couldn't have infiltrated the Hoffman Group so easily, abducted Carrie, and escaped without a trace."
He recalled that there was a huge television in that room, which made his heart sink. Carrie probably saw Yasmin getting abducted on that screen, and that must have led to her emotional meltdown and mental shutdown.
But why would Liam go to such great lengths? Was it merely to take revenge on him at the board meeting? Suddenly, his phone rang, and Justin's call came through.
"Justin," Ryan said as he held his forehead, his voice filled with exhaustion.
"Ryan, your family has really given my sister a great gift." Justin's voice was hoarse with anger. "So this is the Hoffman family's idea of a betrothal gift, huh?!"
