"Mr. Hoffman is good friends with Mr. Salvador, and Mr. Salvador is with Ms. Thompson. Do you think it's appropriate of you to steal Mr. Hoffman's girlfriend? You're putting Mr. Salvador in a tough spot and getting on Ms. Thompson's nerves."

"Did I say I'm going to steal Carrie away? You and your boss are the ones imagining things."

With downcast eyes, Ralph stared tenderly at Carrie's sleeping face. "But if you won't stop talking about it, you might just push me to fight for her. What did my old man tell me again? I think it was to at least try even if there is an obstacle."

"Captain Thompson, remember your place!" Anxious, Yasmin jolted to her feet.

Forgetting that she was in a vehicle, she bumped her head on the roof of the ambulance. Furrowing her brows, she held her aching head and sat back down.

"Ms. Yasmin, don't use my job on me." Ralph smirked. "One of my pet peeves is being threatened."

Yasmin felt a gut punch.

As she interacted with Ralph, her panic escalated.

Her woman's intuition alerted her to the fact that if Ralph fancied Carrie, he would become Ryan's competition.

Ralph would become Ryan's strongest rival.

When Carrie was transported into the room for treatment, Ryan darted over grimly.

The hallway was cramped as Ryan entered with his employees in tow.

He did not look like he was there to visit his wife. He appeared to be seeking a fight.

Since stepping foot into the hospital, Ryan has had a long face and was unapproachable. He was on a private jet with Logan to attend a business meeting in the neighboring city.

While on the way, he read the news about an incident at Savrow Art Academy. For some reason, he felt his stomach turning, so he called Yasmin right away. His calls went unanswered.

Unsure whether Carrie was safe, Ryan ordered the jet to turn back to Savrow despite Logan's protests. He would rather sit out the important meeting. Livid, Logan nearly passed out from the huffing and puffing at an altitude of 30,000 feet.

"Mr. Hoffman."

Without red-rimmed eyes, Ryan approached aggressively. Yasmin stood up and nodded as her sweat hit the floor.

"Why did you tell me?" Ryan hissed through clenched teeth.

"Things were critical. I was afraid-"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Ryan's eyes were shot. His angry roar echoed through the hallway. The employees of the Hoffman Group kept their heads down in silence.

Yasmin bit her discolored lip and hung her head low as the guilt weighed down on her.

"You're fired, Yasmin."

Ryan gave her the side eye, the

anger and heartbreak eating him up inside. From now on, you should go home and reflect on your behavior. I will strengthen the security around Carrie. I don't need you anymore."

A drop of sweat slipped into Yasmin's eyes, merging with her tears.

She could not bear the thought of separating from Carrie when they had spent so much time together. It was Yasmin's negligence, and she had no excuse for it.

"This has nothing to do with Ms. Yasmin. It was the decision of the police that she was not to contact you."

Ralph emerged from the corner of

the stairwell, his eyes calm as he explained on behalf of Yasmin, "Everything was happening really fast, and the perpetrator held Carrie hostage. Anything could've set the perpetrator off and put her in a more dangerous situation. Ms. Yasmin wanted to get in touch with you, but we are the professionals. We didn't want the situation to get any worse than it already was. Please don't take out your anger on her."

"Did the instruction come from the police or you?" Ryan's knuckles went white. His husky voice was tinged with dangerous undertones.
