The Day I Kissed An Older Man

Chapter 2769

Chapter 2769

Chase was no longer a part of New Capital Times.

"Alright, Chase is gone, so you can all breathe a sigh of relief. I hope you all can learn from this incident and not bully newcomers just because of your seniority. Understand?"

"Yes, sir! We understand."

"Good. Let's get back to work, then."

Lenny returned to his office, while Rita remained seated for a while, still wondering why he had suddenly stood up for her.

However, before she could knock on his office door, she heard the sound of him making a phone call coming from inside.

She turned to leave, but she heard her name being mentioned.

"Yes. The matter has been handled according to your instructions. Rita doesn't know it was at your behest that we dealt with Chase. Yes, you can rest assured about that. She definitely won't find out. Yes, we look forward to you coming to New Capital Times again, Mister Sherman."

'Sherman?!" Rita was stunned. 'Is this the same Sherman I know? But who else can make Lenny speak with such reverence? Also, how could this matter possibly be related to him?'

Rita was beyond shocked. She did not know if the person she was thinking of was the same Sherman as Lenny was speaking to, but other than him, she could not think of another Sherman.

She could not figure out why Sherman would have Lenny solve the Chase issue for her and explicitly asked not to tell her. What could the reason be?

After hearing Lenny hang up the phone, Rita decisively knocked on the door and entered.Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

Lenny was startled as he had just been on the phone with that man. He quickly put his phone away, looking guilty.

He then glanced around and asked, "Rita, why did you come in so suddenly? Now that Chase is gone, you should go back and focus on your work."

"Sir, why did you suddenly get rid of Chase? I remember that article was from a few days ago, so why choose today to deal with it?" Rita looked down on him, pretending to not know anything.

"It's just a decision made by me and the higher-ups. We chose a day and dealt with it. Anyway, we've taken care of him, so you better get back to work and stop asking about it." Lenny waved repeatedly, urging her to leave. He was afraid that if she stayed any longer, she might realize something was amiss.

"You don't need to hide it from me, sir. I overheard everything just now. You said this was done on the orders of Mister Sherman."

Rita tore through the veil of secrecy, causing Lenny's eyes to widen. "What nonsense are you talking about? Mister Sherman or not, this was a decision made by me and the higher-ups. It has nothing to do with anyone else."

"Oh, is that so? Then I might as well call Mister Sherman and ask. After all, I have his number." Rita pretended to be indifferent as she pulled out her phone, prompting Lenny to jump out from behind his desk.

"Stop, stop!" Lenny then sighed. "I really can't with you."

He had just assured Sherman that Rita would not find out about this, but he did not expect her to guess it so quickly. It would be like handing himself on a serving platter if Rita called Sherman.

"What exactly do you want? We've handled the situation already. Can't you just go back to work? Why do you have to make things difficult for me?"
