Iris opened her eyes and found a tight grip around her. She realized she was with Adolphus, lying with him on the same bed. She tried to move but found she was unable to. She placed her hand above his and found how warm it was.

She had to get ready and do the regular work like the other servants. If someone finds out that she was with Adolphus, it would bring trouble to her.

“Master,” She softly called out. However, Adolphus didn’t respond and then she increased her voice pitch, “Master, please wake up.”

Adolphus hummed and his nose nuzzled against her neck. Iris curled her fingers and toes when he did that.

“Master, I need to go. Could you please pull your hand back?” She humbly requested him.

Adolphus pulled away his hand and she put the blanket away to get out of the bed when Adolphus towered over her and her petite body pinned under him. “I got a good sleep. You are really warm, Iris. However, I would like to know something from you,” Adolphus said and his tone turned serious.

Iris was perplexed to hear him and wondered what he wanted to know.

“Do you have a childhood trauma?” Adolphus asked her and he gently caressed her hair. Iris gaped at him and fiddled with her fingers. She didn’t want to answer it. She thought people would laugh at her thinking how weak she was! So, she lied to Adolphus.

“You were crying in your sleep,” Adolphus stated. Iris gazed at him for a brief moment while he thought if she would make another excuse.

“I don’t remember anything,” Iris replied. “Your Excellency, I have work to do. I need to leave,” she requested.

“You are appointed as my personal attendant, so you will do the work that I allot to you,” Adolphus reminded her. “You can share with me. We will find a solution. You were crying profusely and even screamed. It took me almost twenty minutes to calm you down,” He said while keeping a soft tone.

“I suppose you have a traumatic experience because of your family,” he asserted.

“I get nightmares,” Iris replied.

“I am listening. You can tell me, Iris,” He said.

“My mother died when I was young and my father married another woman. They always abused me. And I am terrified of them. Mostly, the nightmares are related to them, Master,” She briefed him.

“It must have been tough for you.” He was empathetic to her.

“It was tough, Master,” Iris said and her eyes filled with tears.

“Your tears are as precious as pearls. So, do not cry,” Adolphus said and his hand moved down to her cheek. His fingers gently stroked her cheek, making her feel good.

“Iris, you are beautiful,” Adolphus complimented her looks and it made her heart thump against her chest. “Did you really go out?” He asked.

Iris shook her head. “I never went out because I wasn’t allowed,” she stated.

“I agree with the master’s words. I heard from Lily when I was captivated that some girls are sent to the brothel house. Why doesn’t Master save those girls too? It is so wrong that men see women as pleasure toys,” She affirmed and her voice suddenly turned furious.

“You want me to end prostitution?” Adolphus arched his eyebrows.

“Yes. Is it tough for the Crown Prince? I remember he said that he’s the most powerful person after the King in the Kingdom,” Iris said. Her words sounded challenging to him.

“Umm… I will think about it and then give you the answer. You have asked me something for the first time, so I will definitely fulfill this wish of yours,” Adolphus affirmed and Iris was delighted to hear his words.

“Thank you, Master,” Iris said with a warm smile.

“Do you want me to do anything else?” He asked.

Iris shook her head. “Master, I heard you will marry the daughter of the Council’s Head. When will you marry her?” She asked as if she was too excited for his marriage.

“What?” Adolphus chuckled. “Who told you this?” He questioned her.

“Umm… I heard from the fellow servants. I heard that she’s no lesser than a Goddess,” she stated.

“I have to punish these servants to spread rumors,” Adolphus remarked. “I am not marrying her. I do not see her as a woman and she doesn’t excite me,” Adolphus clarified to her.

“Oh,” Iris recalled how he said to her that she made him lose his control. She decided to leave before their conversation headed to a direction where it should not be.

“Master, I want to go to the washroom,” Iris made a better excuse this time.

“Come to the bathhouse after you freshen up. You need to help me in washing,” Adolphus said and moved away from her. “Leave,” He said. Iris quickly got down from the bed and bowed at him before leaving the bedchamber.

She took a deep breath when she reached the small room that was allotted to her. “Master sounds strange sometimes. It seems he’s interested in me and I don’t want it to happen,” She mumbled. She opened the small cupboard to take out the towel and the dress that she was supposed to wear. She even took out the brush, toothp powder and a bar of soap which were given to each servant in the palace.

After freshening up and taking a bath, she quickly went to the bathhouse where Adolphus was waiting for her.

“His Excellency is waiting for you,” Anthony told Iris, who had a basket in his hand.

“These are some scents and flowers that His Excellency will like.” She took the basket from him and went inside the bathhouse.

She found Adolphus inside the large marble bathing pool. She lowered her head and stepped forward.

She placed the basket on the platform and wondered what she should use first. She picked up a tiny glass bottle and opened its lid. She poured its content into the hot water and the magnificent scent surrounded the entire air.

She then put the rose petals into the pool and then picked the scented soap. She turned and found Adolphus had his eyes closed. She moved her eyes down and was relieved to find that his lower half was covered in black satin trousers with broad ends.

“If you stare at me that way, then I won’t be able to stop myself,” Adolphus opened his eyes and met her gaze, “and kiss you hard.”
