Chapter 49
Chapter 49
After dinner, Cordelia and Ronan headed to the hospital together.
Without asking Cordelia, Ronan drove straight to Millstone Hospital.
Cordelia knew about Ronan's extensive connections, so he was well aware of her mother's condition.
When they arrived at the parking lot, Cordelia signaled to get out.
"You better not visit my mom," Cordelia said.
She wasn't sure why she had such worries.
"What's in the ward that you're not letting me see?" Ronan was lighting a cigarette.
With his eyes half-closed, he spoke nonchalantly, like a man who's seen the world, teasing a
greenhorn.
But it was his attitude that deeply attracted Cordelia.
Whether blushing from arguing or shyness from being attracted to him, Cordelia's cheeks turned rosy.
"The hospital is a busy place, lots of chatter. It might tarnish your reputation."
Ronan glanced at his watch, "Four o'clock, I'll come pick you up."
"Okay, sounds good," Cordelia exhaled deeply.
It seemed that he didn't plan on visiting her mother today. He was only here to drop her off out of
respect for his grandfather's orders.
Cordelia headed towards neurology.
The corridor was crowded with people, and Cordelia saw lights and cameras, not knowing what was
being filmed.
As she was about to pass through the crowd, she saw a woman in a dark green dress, holding a
cigarette, exuding an indescribable charm.
Cordelia froze. It was Deanna.
So she was shooting a movie here.
Cordelia didn't have a good impression of Deanna, always feeling that she was scheming and could be
used if she wasn't careful.
She hurriedly entered her mother's ward.
Unexpectedly, it was bustling today, not only with Adrian and Jamie Colby, but also a very kind middle-
aged woman who seemed to be a caregiver.
"Ms. Haselwood," The caregiver saw Cordelia and politely said, "I'm your mom's caregiver, my name is
Trina."
"Nice to meet you, Trina. I’m Cordelia. Did Dr. Devon hire you?" Cordelia felt warm inside.
Even though she had only glanced once, she could tell that Trina was proficient and professional. She
was taking care of her mother's sores.
"Wasn't it you?" Trina was a bit confused. Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
"No, it wasn't."
"Cordelia, wasn't it you who asked Dr. Devon to hire a caregiver?" Adrian also looked at Cordelia with
puzzled eyes.
"It was Mr. Evans who asked me to hire Trina. Trina is the most expensive caregiver in our hospital,
three thousand dollars a month," Dr. Devon came in and said.
"Mr. Evans?" Adrian and Cordelia both showed surprise.
While Jamie, seemed a bit disappointed.
After all, the person who hired the caregiver wasn't him.
"Yes, didn't you know?" Dr. Devon said.
Cordelia felt warm inside.
After Dr. Devon and Trina discussed a few points of attention, they left.
"This Ronan, he's really deep, who knows what he's thinking. Cordelia, has he made any excessive
demands on you lately?" Adrian said.
He said this so that Jamie would hear, implying: Ronan and Cordelia's relationship was merely a
transaction, so Jamie could pursue her with peace of mind.
"Stop talking nonsense." Cordelia didn't take Adrian's bait.
Jamie gently pulled Cordelia's hand, "Can you come out and talk to me for a bit?"
Cordelia followed him out.
"Long time no see, teacher Jamie." Outside her mother's room, Cordelia said naturally.
"The course is over, why are you still calling me teacher Jamie?" Jamie was also very casual.
Jamie had seen Cordelia several times, but he never found the right opportunity to talk to her properly,
especially after what happened last time at the training course.
He heard Adrian say that Cordelia visited her mother every Saturday, so he asked Adrian to
accompany him here. Otherwise, Adrian wouldn't come to visit his mother.
"You were my teacher once, so you'll always be my teacher. Teacher Jamie, what's up?" Cordelia
asked.
"If you're short on cash, you can tell me. I know we didn't know each other when you needed money,
but it's not too late. Once you pass the CPA, your salary will be different. Why did you choose to sign a
marriage contract with Ronan?" Jamie tried hard to say this.
Hearing the word 'contract', Cordelia slightly frowned.
She felt it was likely Adrian had guessed from Ronan's attitude and now Adrian was trying to match her
with Jamie.
Even worse, he might have said that Cordelia and Ronan's marriage is "formal but loveless".
Cordelia didn't want a third party involved in her marriage.
"Teacher Jamie, actually, it's not like you think, that my marriage to Ronan is only formal and loveless.
We had feelings for each other before." Cordelia even smiled slightly at Jamie.
Jamie frowned tightly, holding Cordelia's hand somewhat uncontrollably, "Cordelia..."
"Teacher Jamie, I'm already married."
After saying that, Cordelia went back into the ward.
Just in case, if she didn't clarify, one day the rumor of a "loveless, formal marriage" might reach
Barney's ears.
