The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 452

Chapter 452

The next day, Janice hopped on a bus to Birchwood, making her first stop at Ronan’s grandfather's

house.

Seeing Janice, Callum was overjoyed. "Dad, can we all live in Birchwood from now on?" He asked

Ronan, who was lounging on the couch.

"We'll see," Ronan replied, eyeing Janice's attire. She looked every bit the intellectual, which she was. Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Her crow's feet crinkled with laughter.

"Mr. Evans, did Harold invite me here just to meet his girlfriend? He's never been this proactive before,"

Janice said excitedly, trembling slightly.

"Did he invite you for dinner? You'd better hurry. It's getting late," Ronan said, glancing at his

wristwatch.

He had always known this day would come, that there would be a rough patch between Cordelia and

Harold. Although he was not thrilled, he managed to keep his cool.

"Mm-hm," Janice finally gathered herself and left.

Harold had chosen a down-to-earth diner just outside the campus. Being a student, the diner was

within his budget.

"Cordelia, my mom used to be an editor at a newspaper, but she retired and started helping out at Mr.

Evans' house. That would be Ronan, whom you've met," Harold explained to Cordelia as they waited

for his mom to arrive.

Cordelia sipped her water, nodding occasionally, while she wondered what to expect.

When Janice arrived, she stared at Cordelia, unable to recognize her. Seeing Harold's goofy grin, she

knew something was not right.

"Janice, it's been a while," Cordelia said, standing up to greet her.

Since Cordelia and Ronan had divorced, Janice had always referred to her by her name. But now, she

greeted her, "Mrs. Evans, is that you?"

Harold was stunned. Mrs. Evans?

"Yes, Janice, it's been a long time. You've been taking care of Callum for the past three years, and he's

grown so well. I owe you my thanks," Cordelia said.

To Harold, this was a bolt out of the blue. Wait... Callum was Cordelia's son?

"Actually, it's not just me. Ronan has also been very attentive. He was so good to you, why did you just

leave without a word for three years? Do you know how heartbroken he was? When a loved one leaves

without a trace, it's like the heavens and the earth won't answer your cries," Janice said.

"Love?" Cordelia repeated, lowering her head.

She wanted to ask about Tabitha's child, but she knew Janice would tell Ronan, so she didn't.

"Don't you see it?"

Cordelia remained silent, head down.

Janice was torn. Clearly, Harold was infatuated with Cordelia, but they could never be together.

Therefore, the subject of "Harold's girlfriend" was carefully avoided.

"Let's forget about the past," Cordelia said as the waiter served the food. "I'm doing well now, teaching

at Birchwood College and working at Empower Operations. Oh, and I'm tutoring your son in finance.

He's also interning at Empower Operations, so I can mentor him. He's really promising."

She then patted Harold's shoulder, much like an elder would.

"Is that so? I thought there was some issue, but it seems you already know each other. Take care of

Harold for me," Janice said, glancing at Harold. Seeing his pained expression, she felt a pang of

sympathy.

"Harold, this is not only your teacher but also Mr. Evans' wife. If you have any problems in the future,

you can ask Mr. Evans or Mrs. Evans, okay?"

Harold didn't say a word. He felt deaf and mute. He had never expected fate to play such a cruel joke

on him.
