Chapter 340

Cordelia was in unbearable discomfort. Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.

She dialed up Tristi.

"Where are you?" Cordelia asked, her forehead beading with sweat.

"Mrs. Evans, I’m stuck in traffic. Can you walk to the park entrance? They don’t allow vehicles inside,"

Tristi suggested.

"But I..." Cordelia struggled to get up, and her stomach pain made it impossible.

"What’s wrong?" Tristi heard the strain in Cordelia’s voice and quickly asked, "I’ll call Mr. Evans. Hang

on."

After ending the call with Cordelia, Tristi dialed up Ronan.

"Mr. Evans, Mrs. Evans is at Central Park, and she's in a bad way. She can barely speak."

Ronan swallowed hard. "I know. I’m on my way."

He figured that Cordelia had probably wanted to clear her head.

Ronan could only think of one place where she might’ve gone to, Central Park.

He was almost there.

...

Cordelia’s face was a ghostly white. She tried to curl up in an attempt to ease the pain.

A janitor, noticing her distress, asked, "Ma'am, do you need help?"

"Could you... could you help me out of the park? My family... they're waiting for me outside."

"You're about to give birth, aren't you?" The janitor noticed Cordelia’s pants were wet. Her water had

broken.

"How could this be?" Cordelia panicked. She was still a month away from her due date.

She thought she had been handling her emotions well recently. Nothing should have triggered early

labor.

Even though Leila had revealed Ronan's past affair with Deanna, it wasn’t enough to send her into

premature labor.

It must have been Samantha. Her words must have been the final straw for Cordelia.

Cordelia squeezed her palm. “Samantha!"

Despite her pain, Cordelia managed to make it to the entrance of the park.

Just as Ronan's car pulled up.

"Sir, your wife is about to give birth. You need to get her to a hospital immediately."

Ronan frowned. She was supposed to have more time before the babies came. This was premature

labor!

He quickly helped the pale-faced Cordelia into the car.

They sped off toward Mount Sinai Hospital.

On the way, he called Janice, asking her to meet them at the hospital.

Cordelia was in the back seat, curled up in pain.

Ronan wanted to explain but couldn’t find the words.

All he could do was drive as fast as possible.

At Mount Sinai Hospital, Cordelia was quickly wheeled into the delivery room.

Ronan followed, fearing for Cordelia’s safety.

Cordelia had been doing yoga regularly, and they had hoped for a natural birth. But at that moment,

one baby's head was already crowning.

Cordelia was in excruciating pain, feeling as if she had been to hell and back. She would have

preferred to stay there than to endure this...

Finally, the first baby, a boy, was born.

"Time of birth, 3:38 p.m.," the nurse announced.

She showed the baby to Cordelia, but Cordelia's gaze was unfocused. She didn’t even register the

baby’s gender or appearance.

Ronan paid no mind either.

The midwife detected that the other baby’s heartbeat was weak, and she reported it to the doctor.

If Cordelia tried to deliver the second baby naturally, there was a risk of major hemorrhage.

Moreover, Cordelia was exhausted to the point of fainting and was drenched in sweat.

Even if she wanted to deliver naturally, she couldn’t.

"We need to perform a C-section for the second baby," the doctor ordered, preparing her gloves.

"We’ve delayed too much, the baby could suffocate."

"Doctor, the other baby's heartbeat has stopped," the nurse regretfully informed her.

The doctor took a moment to process the information.

She glanced at Ronan.

"Mr. Evans," the doctor said apologetically.

"I want to know if Cordelia is okay!" Ronan demanded, his face a mask of frustration and worry.

The doctor checked Cordelia’s eyelids. "She's in shock, but it's temporary. We need to operate now to

remove the stillborn. Mr. Evans, please step outside."

The newborn boy had been placed in an incubator.

A haggard Ronan stepped out of the delivery room and slumped down on a bench in the hallway.
