The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 327

Chapter 327

"Loads of kids, some barely teenagers, go off to the States all on their own, and they're just fine. I'm in

my twenties. What's wrong with me going to the States? Plus, I wasn't alone when I was there."

Cordelia squinted her eyes as she spoke.

"Who else was there?" Ronan asked her.

He knew she was referring to Jamie.

He had always been bothered by the time she and Jamie had spent together in the States.

"Plenty of friends." Cordelia blinked. "I'm pretty popular, no matter where I go."

"Would you go there again?" he asked her.

Cordelia thought to herself, “She had already told him about her plans to return to the States in

January. Why was he asking again?”

"It depends," Cordelia answered vaguely.

"Even after you have kids?"

"There's plenty of time to spend with kids, but only a few years to take advantage of educational

opportunities." Cordelia didn't have any kids yet and felt her career was most important. She was

concerned about her qualifications. To make a place for herself in Millstone, she had to have real skills.

She hadn't yet experienced the deep maternal bond with a child.

"Can't I make you stay here?" Ronan asked her.

"No, some dreams can't be contained," Cordelia said with a meaningful look.

"You'd be set if you just took care of me, right?" Ronan said in a noncommittal tone.

Cordelia scoffed. "Being an auditor has been my dream since I was a kid. I don't want to be looked

down on for relying on connections. I want to be a specialist in my field."

Cordelia's words expressed her admiration for professional auditors.

"So, you're still planning to go to the States even after having a kid?" He asked her again.

"Yes."

They left the zoo. Cordelia was a bit tired. It was spring, and the weather was warm. Sweat dotted

Cordelia's forehead.

Cordelia tugged on Ronan's sleeve. "Let's sit down for a bit."

She plopped down onto a bench, gasping for breath. Ronan followed her, and she instinctively rested

her head on his shoulder, exhausted.

"Once you have the kid, there's a big reward. A mansion and a hundred million," Ronan said.

Cordelia didn't react, and only replied with an "Oh."

What she needed now wasn't money, but the sense of accomplishment that came from education.

"If that's the case, I'll always be looked down upon by my peers and maybe even by my husband in the

future. What happened with Marian will happen again ! I don't want my life to turn out that way,"

Cordelia said rationally.

Ronan gave a cold laugh. "So, when you first found out about the pregnancy, you were planning to

terminate it."

"Let's go home. I'm tired," Cordelia said after a moment of silence.

Victoria outed her last time, and Cordelia had no choice but to accept it.

Ronan stood up, took her hand, and they started to walk home.

On their way, Cordelia received a message from Sienna. [Cordelia, Samantha has been having a hard

time finding a role lately. She finally got a small part in a new production, but in one of the scenes, she

was supposed to get a bucket of water thrown in her face. For some reason, she instinctively dodged it.

Luckily, she did, because when the water hit the ground, it started to smoke. It was like there was

sulfuric acid in it. Samantha was terrified. I know Deanna used to be close with Mr. Evans, could you

maybe talk to him? Ask him to tell Deanna to stop messing with Samantha. It's too much, it's now

become terrifying. We're sorry about what happened before.]

Cordelia was shocked when she read the message. Using sulfuric acid to disfigure someone was truly

malicious.

Ronan once said, Deanna wasn't responsible for the last incident.

"Samantha almost got splashed with sulfuric acid on set," Cordelia said. "My aunt asked me to talk to

you, to tell Deanna to stop messing with Samantha. She's really sorry about the accusation."

While driving, Ronan furrowed his brow. "Who did your cousin offend?"

"My aunt suspects Deanna." Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

"Deanna is out of town now; she's not even in the same production. How could she have tampered with

the props? You need insiders and resources for that. Do you think Deanna has that kind of power?"

Ronan counter-questioned.

"So she doesn't have the power, but you have the power to defend her!" Cordelia snapped, ignoring

Ronan, turning her head to look out the window.

Although she knew Ronan was making sense, his constant defense of Deanna irritated her.

She decided to distract herself by scrolling through Facebook.
