The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 321

Chapter 321

Cordelia picked up the papers, scanning them thoroughly. After she was done, she let out a cynical

laugh. It was just as Ronan had told her. The path that Ronan had laid out for Deanna was one of

gaining popularity, laying low, and appealing to the public through charity.

Cordelia sat on the bed, folding the children's clothes, and not uttering a single word.

"What's wrong?" Ronan asked.

"Nothing. It's fine." Cordelia thought to herself that Ronan had connections everywhere, even in the

police department. The case of her mother's death was closed fast, just like this case. No one was held

accountable.

How influential he was. Cordelia was no match for him. If he wanted to support Deanna, she had no

say in the matter. After all, they had known each other longer.

"I'm heavily pregnant now, and I'm finding it hard to keep up with work. From tomorrow, I probably won't

be able to help with the company anymore. The accounts for PrimeBuild Contractors are done. Could

you take them to the office for me?" She asked, standing up and going to the living room to fetch the

accounts for Ronan.

She was clearly upset, and Ronan could tell. "I'm supporting her so that she and Samantha will destroy

each other. She's just a target." Ronan tried to explain.

"I didn't ask you to avenge me, did I? I'm just frustrated. It just doesn't sit right with me," Cordelia

retorted, her eyes looking fearlessly at him. "You don't need to explain anything to me."

"Cordelia!" Ronan clenched his teeth in frustration.

"Hmm? What is it?" She replied.

Ronan was left speechless, and his anger was dissipating.

During dinner, Cordelia served him food as usual, but she was unusually quiet. Ronan wanted to make

out with her that night, but Cordelia was as unresponsive as a log.

"The babies are yours. If something happens, I will be the one in pain, but I don't know if you would feel

any pain at all," she said indifferently.

Hearing her words, Ronan lost all desire.

Cordelia saw he had stopped trying, so she continued to sleep.

The next day, when Ronan went to work, he specifically asked Janice to keep a close eye on Cordelia.

"Don't worry, Mr. Evans. I'll make sure nothing happens while I'm here."

Cordelia didn't have any issues after waking up. She had been doing yoga at the office, but now she

had to do it at home.

In the morning, she was feeling quite down and told Janice she wanted to go down to the coffee shop

to have a glass of milk, so Janice accompanied her.

Cordelia preferred the window seats at Starbucks, where she could watch the hustle and bustle of the

streets. She received a message on Messenger. [Cordelia, are you free? If so, I'd like to come by with

Brenda. Is that okay?]

It was from Jamie. Jamie probably brought Brenda along to avoid any misunderstandings with Ronan.

[I'm at the Starbucks downstairs. Come on over,] Cordelia replied.

About half an hour later, Jamie and Brenda showed up at Starbucks.

"Cordelia, you're huge! Is this typical for women expecting twins? It's quite shocking," Brenda

exclaimed.

Cordelia simply smiled. "How did you two find the time to visit me?"

"We just wanted to see you. Do we need to schedule it?" Brenda replied.

If it were just Jamie, Janice would have stayed a little longer. But since Brenda was there as well,

Janice left to run some errands.

Jamie had come to see Cordelia because Ava had spoken to him the night before. She told him that

Cordelia's babies were Ronan's and asked him to stop playing the role of the expectant father. She

also asked Jamie to limit his contact with Cordelia. Jamie was worried that Cordelia might have

overthought the situation, so he decided to visit her. To avoid any misunderstandings with Ronan, he

brought Brenda along.

Brenda also knew now that Cordelia's babies were Ronan's.

"Why do you look so unhappy, Cordelia? You're about to have babies!" Brenda and Jamie each

ordered a latte.

"Don't even mention it. My grandmother passed away recently, and it's been quite draining. I feel like I

can't keep up," Cordelia said, holding her head in her hands.

"I heard about your grandmother from Adrian," Jamie said. "I'm really sorry for your loss, Cordelia. But

she was already quite old."

Cordelia sighed. "You have no idea."Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
