The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 310

Chapter 310

Cordelia remembered the reason she had arranged to meet Brooklyn today; it was about serious

matters, not the sudden topic about Ronan.

"My grandma passed away. Did you know?" Cordelia got back to the main topic, her appetite dwindling.

"Really? I didn't know. When? Don't be too upset. At least you're back with Mr. Evans now, otherwise,

this year for you…” Brooklyn thought about the fact that Cordelia had lost three family members in

succession this year. It would have been too much for anyone.

Cordelia was sad too. "I wanted to attend my grandma's funeral, but he wouldn't let me. I understand

why, but I'm just sad. There are fewer and fewer people in this world that I can bid farewell to."

Cordelia's eyes reddened.

Brooklyn patted her back. "When is your grandma's funeral?"

"Today."

"That explains it."

"Also, my aunt said that my grandma died in a fire. I always feel like something fishy is going on. And,

didn't Samantha join the shooting of The High Society? The other day, I went to reconcile accounts with Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Pulse Technologies' finance director and found out Samantha was fired from the crew. She had been

shooting for a while, and then was suddenly replaced. I feel there's more to this."

Brooklyn's spaghetti was almost finished. She propped her head with her hand, staring at Cordelia.

"Who do you think it was?"

Cordelia didn't want to say, but a name came to mind… Deanna.

"Since you're worried, should I go check it out for you?" Brooklyn offered.

"No need, you won't find anything. Plus, Samantha knows you, and she would definitely be on guard."

Cordelia said while eating.

Thinking of her grandma's funeral today and her sitting here calmly eating a sandwich, Cordelia lost her

appetite. She put down her spoon.

Brooklyn's eyes lit up. "What about Edwin? Last time he drove you to Roseville, but we never went in,

Samantha doesn't know him."

"Forget it. He just started working with Pulse Technologies, so he's very busy. Don't bother him,"

Cordelia said.

"I'll give him a call." Brooklyn said, dialing before Cordelia could dissuade her.

"He agreed. He'll come pick me up in a bit! What should I say when I get there?" Brooklyn asked

Cordelia after the call.

Ever since their first kiss in the suburbs, Brooklyn and Edwin hadn't kissed again. In fact, Edwin had

been avoiding Brooklyn. He felt that he had kissed her too impulsively last time and didn't want to give

her the wrong idea.

Brooklyn knew that as long as it was about Cordelia, Edwin would always agree, no matter how busy

he was. She was certain of this. And she, she just wanted to see Edwin, even if he came for Cordelia,

she could bear it.

Even though she felt increasingly humiliated, whoever fell in love first in a relationship, was always the

most vulnerable, right?

Brooklyn made Cordelia feel quite awkward, Cordelia didn't want Edwin to come for her, but that

possibility existed. Cordelia was afraid that if this continued, it would make Brooklyn more and more

uncomfortable, but she, she didn't have any other solution.

"I'll transfer ten thousand dollars to you guys. It's my grandma's funeral. I can't let you guys foot the bill.

Are you taking the afternoon off?" Cordelia asked Brooklyn.

"I finished my manuscript, and I’m taking the afternoon off, so it shouldn't be a problem," Brooklyn

replied.

Edwin's car arrived, pulling up in front of Lumos Enterprises. Cordelia went straight upstairs and did not

see Edwin.

Brooklyn got into Edwin's car.

"Just you?" Edwin asked Brooklyn.

"Oh, yes, she asked me to go on her behalf."
