The Cherished Wife

Chapter 744

Although Noelle found Samuel's expression a bit odd, she still nodded. "Yes."

Samuel's expression remained tense, but after a moment, he returned to his usual calm demeanor. "So, how did your mother get it wrong?"

At this, Noelle could not help but find it amusing. Jade had introduced the person herself, yet she did not even know who he was and had allowed Sean to pretend for so long.

Noelle explained the whole situation, and Samuel listened with some surprise. "So, your mom never knew who Bob was? She has never even met him?"

Noelle nodded, and Sean added, "It seems my aunt owed Madam Jones a favor when she was younger. Now that my aunt is with the Smiths, Madam Jones has turned her attention to my brother.

"But my brother has no interest in a matchmaking meeting and knows that Noelle has already married Charles. So, he came up with this idea and sent me instead."

"A case of substitution, I suppose?" Noelle joked while holding Samuel's hand. "Charlie is aware of this."

Samuel finally understood. "As long as Charlie knows. I just don't want any misunderstandings affecting your relationship as a couple."

With everything explained, Samuel felt at ease and gently patted Noelle's hand. "I'm getting old, and I don't want to interfere in young people's affairs. My only wish is for you and Charlie to be happy together."

He sighed wistfully. "If it weren't for your parents' personalities, you wouldn't have to hide your relationship with Charlie for so long."

He then turned to Sean. "We're really troubling you, Mr. Smith."

Noelle could not help but chuckle and shook her head. "Grandpa, don't worry about troubling him. He's got too much free time."

Sean raised an eyebrow and

grinned. "Sir Shaw, Charles and

Noelle are my friends, and since this

matter involves my brother, it's only right that I help them. But this can't be a long-term solution."

Samuel nodded. "Yes, I think the same, but things are complicated in the Shaws. I just worry that Noelle might suffer."

Sean's sharp eyes narrowed. "She won't. She's very clever." He had no doubts about that.

If Noelle were not exceptional, someone as discerning as Charles would not have taken an interest in her.

The problem was that Noelle was a person who valued emotions deeply, which allowed the Shaws to take advantage of her.

"By the way, Grandpa, do you know about the Jones family from Cascade City?" Noelle inquired.

Upon hearing this, Samuel's expression stiffened again, but he quickly composed himself and shook his head. "No, I was just asking."

Noelle found it strange, but since Samuel refused to elaborate, she could not do much about it. Sean, on the other hand, sensed that Samuel had something on his mind, but he could not quite figure out what it was. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

While the three of them chatted upstairs, things were taking a different turn downstairs.

Winter had returned with Xavier. Even though they were still giving each other the cold shoulder, Xavier was more restrained around the Shaws.

Jade felt overjoyed seeing her

et

daughter and son-in-law back together. Observing them holding hands, with Winter smiling, Jade finally felt relieved. "Winter, Xavier, you're back. Come, sit down

"Mom." Winter let go of Xavier's hand and approached Jade. "Why are you here alone? Where's Dad? And where's Grandpa?"

Winter looked around but did not see Julian or Samuel. "And what about Noelle?"
