Chapter 472
"Worried about what?" Peter raised an eyebrow. "That she might come back?"
Sean nodded solemnly. "You know how much drama there was and how it changed Charles for the worse." The memories still tugged at Sean's heartstrings. "Everyone had such high hopes back then."
While Sean was talking, he noticed Peter staring off toward the kitchen, lost in thought. "What's on your mind?"
"I've got a feeling you're wrong about that," Peter said with a smirk. "Noelle's not like that other woman, and Charles isn't as hung up on her as you think. I don't see her as a real threat."
Sean shook his head, unconvinced. "We'll see. I've got a bad feeling about it. Unless she's gone for good, I'm not holding my breath... But I've got to admit, Noelle's a good match for him. Ever since they got together, he's been a different guy."Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
Sean liked Noelle after their few interactions. She seemed genuine and had no hidden agendas from the start with Charles.
Peter's expression turned serious. "You shouldn't be worrying about this stuff." He paused, then added, "But..."
"But what?" Sean asked, curious. "Are you worried too?"
Peter shook his head. "You wanted her background checked. I've found some leads," he said, rubbing his forehead thoughtfully.
That was why he had shown up at the horse ranch out of the blue that day. He had wanted to get the measure of this Noelle, who had managed to catch the usually staunch Charles's eye.
After meeting Noelle, Peter got it.
She might have looked delicate, but she was tough as nails. Even from their brief encounter, it was clear that Noelle's way of speaking, grace, and ideas were extraordinary Moreover, she had a knack for fitting injust right, keeping things balanced with Charles.
"What's up?" Sean perked up with curiosity. "Charles and I have always thought the Shaws treat Noelle weirdly. She and Winter are both
Shaw daughters, but the family
treats her like their black sheep. Jade has gone after her own daughter more times than can count. I just can't wrap my head around it."
"It's pretty straightforward. Noelle may not be Jade's kid, but then Julian's weird vibes around Noelle wouldn't add up. Or, maybe Noelle isn't a Shaw at all."
Sean's eyes widened in realization.
"You're saying Noelle might not be Jade and Julian's kid?" That clicked but something still bugged him. "But why are Samuel and Sebastian so chill with Noelle? Unless they're in the dark... Why else would they go Sout of their way to be kind to her?"
"Yeah, that's been bugging me too. For now, we've just gotta keep digging." Peter replied, "I haven't told Charles yet. I'll fill him in once I've got the full picture."
Just then, the doorbell echoed from outside. Noelle dashed from the kitchen, only to find Sean already on his way to the door. "Noelle, I've got the door. You do your thing!"
"Sure thing." Noelle flashed a smile, then turned to see Peter approaching. "Need a hand?"
Noelle paused, a bit taken aback. "Oh, no, I've got it. But thanks!"
