Chapter 8: Misunderstanding Cleared Up
Octavia Gills picked up the money from the floor one by one, held it neatly in her hand, looked at his cold, unfeeling face, and with her fingers trembling, took his hand, and placed the large red banknotes in Tredan’s palm, saying to him slowly but forcefully, with a touch of sadness in her voice, “I know you are the president and heir of Group Davi. You are a noble man, and I dare not think that a crow like me can become a phoenix, but I am a woman who has self-respect and pride. You can ignore me, but you should not trample on me. You can’t buy my body with any amount of money because my body is priceless in my heart! Take your money, you keep it! Goodbye, President Davi!”
As Octavia Gills hurried off, she left a stunned Tredan. He fumed as he watched her back, recalling the hurt in Octavia Gills’ eyes and subconsciously feeling he was wrong, but stubbornly he quickly covered it up a twinge of guilt.
Some things and some people were just not hers to aspire for or to touch. Octavia Gills once again felt the pain of having her heart torn to pieces. She should let go??let go of him in her heart!
“Come on, Brother Woodrow, let’s have another drink!” Domino was staggering over to Woodrow with the bottle and making Woodrow drink.
My God, Octavia Gills couldn’t believe her eyes, the two of them had already gone head-to-head with each other, to think that she just went to the restroom to wash her face. And now, they were like this?
Octavia Gills took a heavy step over toward Domino, gently tapped her on the shoulder and said softly, “Domino, what’s … going on here?”
“Octavia, you’re back! We got the Grand Property Company project, I tell you… Come on, let’s drink to Woodrow!” Pulling a bewildered Octavia Gills into a toast to Woodrow with a glass in hand.
“Come on, cheers! I hope we work well together!” Woodrow now raised his glass with a particular gentlemanly grace!
“Yes, good luck with our cooperation, and on behalf of the company, I would like to thank President Cruise for his trust. Domino and I will leave you to it then, without disturbing President Cruise!” Octavia Gills, who had collected the contracts and project books on the table, tried to make a quick escape from the place. However, Woodrow intercepted her quickly!
“Wait, what’s the hurry to leave, we haven’t seen the head of your company yet!” Having had seven or eight drinks, Woodrow picked up his phone and was about to dial the number of his buddy Tredan, when he saw him walking towards the table.
“Tredan, where have you been? Been waiting for you all night, where’s the Drye family princess?” Woodrow asked with concern when he saw Tredan, who had returned by himself. Woodrow inadvertently hit Tredan’s sore spot, but Tredan pretended as if nothing had happened, and faintly replied, “She’s gone back!”
“Come on, Tredan, let me introduce you to the two beautiful women who came to me tonight to talk about a project from your company! Maybe you guys know each other.” An excited Woodrow pulled him over to Domino, who he looked at with a smile in his eyes.
“This is Domino, the marketing manager of Group Davi’s subsidiary. I know you may not really know her, but I quite admire her eloquence, ha ha…”
“What are you talking about?” In front of the president, and listening to Woodrow’s unknowingly positive and derogatory adjectives, Domino restrained herself and changed the subject instead.
“I didn’t realize Woodrow was friends with our president!”
This is the man Octavia Gills has been dreaming of, the president of Group Davi, and much more handsome in person than on the cover.
Watching Domino, who was circling around him, and kept staring at Tredan, Woodrow was surprisingly upset and deliberately got in Domino’s way, pointing to Octavia Gills and introducing her to Tredan.
“This is an employee of your subsidiary, a finance clerk called Octavia Gills, why don’t you get her to tell you some jokes! Domino and I will go and get some wine, we want get drunk tonight!” Tredan was surprised to see Octavia Gills.
It turns out her name is Octavia Gills, and it turns out that she’s not the escort she thought her to be, but she actually works at Group Davi. Tredan felt guilty remembering what he did to her earlier!Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“I’m sorry I misunderstood you before!” It was one of those moments, the arrogant Tredan softened his attitude towards people. The bewildered Octavia Gills had no time to react before Tredan went to the bar, sat down, ordered a drink, picked up a lighter and lit the cigarette in his hand, put it in his mouth and exhaled a wisp of white smoke.
Octavia Gills looked away quietly, she could feel his emptiness and despondency now, his sadness at the loss of Lilian Drye, her heart ached as she looked as his furrowed brow, she resisted the urge to get close to him again, resisted the desire to hug him gently from behind and tell him, “The five-year-old Lilian is a thing of the past and you are not you’re not the 3-year-old boy anymore, you’re capable of bringing warmth to yourself now!”
Slowly approaching Tredan, Octavia Gills tried to cheer him up, “Ms. Lilian will be back soon, don’t be sad.”
Turning around to face Octavia Gills who had said this, Tredan grabbed her arms that made Octavia feel bewildered. “How much did you just hear a while ago? Don’t talk nonsense, okay?”
Octavia Gills’ offhanded reassurance irritated Tredan instead. She panicked as she almost spilt the beans on her secret from 20 years ago, while trying to explain to Tredan.
“No, you misunderstand, I have no intentions towards you, I just want you to be happy!”
“Is that so? You want me to be happy, don’t you?” Getting the bottle of booze, Tredan dragged Octavia Gills toward the direction of the car park.
“President Davi, President Davi, let go of me, you’re hurting me!”
His smirking expression left Octavia Gills a little stunned and a little scared.
“Don’t you want me to be happy! I’m giving you a chance now!”
As they reached the car, Tredan grabbed Octavia Gills with one big hand and shoved her into the spacious back seat of the car, he was taking off her top while slamming the door behind them.
“No, President Davi… No…” She struggled, trying to break free from his blazing embrace.
He kissed her hard, not wanting to hear any more words about her attempts to push him away, blocking her sweet lips and tongue with his fiery lips and teeth, and with physical movements that could not be clearer, trying to melt away her inexplicable resistance.
Octavia Gills’ consciousness began to blur, her legs went limp, her white hands went around Tredan’s neck, and she clung on to him feeling limp and weak. Octavia Gills almost felt like a child with a high fever.
