Chapter 702

Chapter 702 Ensure The Safety Of My Wife And Child

Inside the dining area, the maid tore off her face—it was actually a thin mask.

Beneath the mask was a face that Avery was completely unfamiliar with.

Looking at this mysterious Eastern Epean woman, Avery exclaimed in shock, “Who are you? What have you done to Mary?”

Mary was the maid responsible for taking care of their daily needs, and she was also the young girl whom this woman was pretending to be.

“Go ask her in hell!” The maid sneered wickedly, her lips curling up.

With a wave of her hand, the room was suddenly filled with strangers, each armed with a gun, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.

Heather's expression abruptly changed. She was trained in taekwondo. As she swiftly dealt with the intruders, she yelled at Avery, “Avery, take Cal and leave first...”

Alas, even if Heather had the ability to protect herself, how could she possibly defeat all those ruthless and merciless assassins herself?

In no time at all, Heather was knocked to the ground, a gun pressed against her head.

“Heather...” Avery called out her name anxiously while holding Cal tightly, trying to step back in a state of shock.

“Mommy, Mommy...” Cal clung tightly to Avery's neck. Cal also sensed the danger, but he was sensible enough not to add to her troubles.

A strong arm suddenly clamped around Avery's neck. Following that, the maid's dagger was pressed against her throat.

The cold sensation spread across Avery's neck, causing her to shiver uncontrollably.

“Mrs. Moore, you'd better behave yourself, or I won't hesitate to kill your son right here and now!” The maid spoke in Remdikian, a language Avery couldn't understand at all.

However, the maid deliberately moved the dagger to Cal's fair neck, using her actions to send a clear message—she was threatening Avery to behave obediently.

Avery remained rigid, not daring to move. She simply tightened her grip around Cal, fearing that the dagger might accidentally pierce her son's neck if she wasn't careful.

She looked at the unconscious bodyguards in the dining area and the intruders armed with deadly weapons. She felt a profound sense of helplessness. Without a doubt, the security measures in other areas must have been breached as well.

Vivian once told her that due to the numerous enemies of Taron, for her safety, this mansion was heavily guarded by Taron's people, not to mention the various high-tech security measures.

She really couldn't understand how these people managed to get in here.

Although Avery was scared and trembling at this moment, she forced herself to stay calm. “Don't act rashly. I don't know why you've captured me, but if anything happens to me on Taron's territory, he won't let you off! Heather, translate what I said for her...”

“Hmph!” Heather glared at the maid, spitting at her before faithfully translating Avery's words to her.

“You're the first woman who's dared to spit at me. Do you want to die?”

The maid let out a loud, sinister laugh, handing over Avery and her child to the other assassins. She strutted over to Heather with an air of arrogance and, with a vicious slap, struck her across the face. “This beautiful face of yours,” she sneered, “it seems you don't care for it anymore!”

Her strength was overwhelming, causing Heather's face to swell visibly at an alarming rate. Blood began to seep from the corner of her mouth.

In a state of frantic desperation, Avery roared at the maid, “What are you doing? Don't harm Heather. If you have a problem, come at me!”

The maid, however, completely ignored her, stepping directly onto Heather's face with her high heels. She scornfully said, “Tell Taron, it was the people from Dark River who took them! If he wants them to live, get Cayden to show himself. Otherwise, none of them will live!”

That attitude was incredibly arrogant, as if she didn't think much of Taron at all.

After she finished speaking, she and her entourage took control of Avery and the child, leaving in a grand and imposing manner.

Watching helplessly as her cousin was taken away, Heather was on the verge of tears. As soon as they left, she immediately found her phone and dialed Taron's number.

However, communication was cut off by those people. The entire network was down, and phone calls simply couldn't be made.

She really had no other choice, and she had to personally go to Taron's territory to find him.

The mansion where Taron usually resided was approximately half an hour away from where Vivian lived.

After much difficulty, Heather finally arrived at Taron's place, only to find that the guard at the gate seemed to have been replaced by a newcomer who didn't recognize her and wouldn't let her in at all!

Just as Heather was like a cat on a hot tin roof, Taron was on his way out.

His car pulled out, and through the window, Taron saw Heather's anxious and distressed expression. Her cheeks were swollen like fermenting dough. His handsome face changed slightly. “What happened?”

Half an hour ago, he had just received a call from Cayden. While he was overjoyed to know that he was alive, he also learned that he had gotten himself into big trouble with Dark River.

Cayden specifically instructed him to protect his wife and child well.

As soon as he hung up the phone, Taron tried to contact Vivian and Avery immediately. However, no matter what he did, he couldn't reach them. His first instinct was that something had gone wrong, so he decided to head straight to his sister's house.

But as soon as he was leaving, he ran into Heather, which intensified his uneasy premonition.

Frantically gesturing, Heather panted as she said to Taron, “Mr. Taron, my cousin and Cal have been taken away by the people from Dark River!”

Taron was taken aback, his face instantly blanching.

Heather continued bitterly, “They even demanded Cayden to personally deal with it. Otherwise, they will end Avery and Cal's lives!”

“Sh*t! Dark River dares to encroach on my territory, huh? Well, that's just great. It's been a while since I've had a good stretch...”© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

Taron slammed his fist heavily onto the driver's seat, then gestured to Heather. “Get in!”

Heather quickly got into the passenger seat. As soon as she got in the car, the black Ferrari shot out like an arrow.

In the car, Taron quickly dialed a double-encrypted number. “Cayden, your wife and son have been kidnapped by the people of Dark River. If you want to save them, come to Mocset immediately, by any means necessary!”

Having said that, he completely ignored the angry curses coming from the man on the other end of the phone and promptly hung up.

“Is Cayden really still alive? If he didn't die, why hasn't he shown up in front of Avery? Does he know that Avery risked her life to come to Mocset to find him? Why hasn't he contacted her? That man is really irresponsible, isn't he?”

Upon hearing the news that Cayden was still alive, Heather was first taken aback, then filled with anger. She felt wronged on behalf of Avery and incessantly berated Cayden.

“Shut up, woman!” Taron was already irritated, and her constant nagging and complaining only served to annoy him further.

He simply couldn't understand—why do women tend to talk so much?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone was as well-behaved and quiet as Vivian?

Although Heather kept her mouth shut now, her angry gaze was on Taron.

This guy doesn't even let others speak. No wonder he's still single in his late twenties. He deserves it!

Meanwhile, upon learning that Avery and their child had been kidnapped, Cayden gripped his phone so tightly it was nearly crushed. His gorgeous eyes instantly turned red, like a wild beast driven to the brink of madness and fury, ready to tear someone apart at any moment!

Rupert, you'd better ensure the safety of my wife and child. Otherwise, I swear I'll wipe out the entire Dark River!
