The CEO Gets What He Wants

Chapter 142

Chapter 142

In the meantime, Toby was standing on the balcony of the Musk residence with a look of somberness.

After going upstairs, Talia looked around for quite a while before spotting him there.

“How are you planning to resolve the matter?” Talia blundered. Knowing her husband's temperament well, she was worried stiff that the latter would unleash his wrath relentlessly on her son.

As such, she racked her brains on how she could back Dylan up. Regardless of what her son had done, she could not remain unperturbed when he had to face the wrath.

Toby snorted impatiently. “I'm waiting to see how your beloved son will appease Old Mr. Moore with an explanation when he's back!”

Talia was a bundle of nerves. “Didn't you have a clear insight into the situation and know your son well? What's the point of explaining everything again? Most importantly, we should find a way now to placate Old Mr. Moore!”

Needless to say, they were well aware of their son's mindset and demeanor.

In actuality, Talia had sensed something amiss when Dylan suddenly announced that he was getting married and had arranged to register his marriage hastily.

She also recalled that Avery was unconscious when Dylan carried her back in his arms that day. After regaining consciousness, Avery even left right away without their knowledge. Apart from that, she was obviously in low spirits during the meal with their close relatives right after their marriage registration.

At the thought, Talia finally had a grasp of the situation and uttered analytically, “Dylan and Avery's marriage might be in the name only. I bet they're hiding something from us...”

Toby turned and fumed, “Huh? Do I still need to think of a way out for him? Good gracious! He's already in his thirties. Haven't I sacrificed enough for him all these years? Now that Old Mr. Moore confronts us by bringing along his great-grandson, insisting that we let go of his granddaughter-in-law, how could I face the others again without any sense of shame?”

Talia was at a loss for words to refute. She had no choice but to vent her resentment toward the Musk family.

Flashing a glance at the car parked next to the main entrance, she mocked, “Hmph! Look at your beloved younger sister. Others might think you're only the Musk family's adopted child. Now that we're in a predicament, how could she remain seated comfortably in her car without speaking up for you? She's seemingly gloating!”

Tamper flaring, Toby snapped at her, “Zip your mouth. You'd better discipline yourself and your beloved son. It's all your fault. You shouldn't have pampered him throughout these years!”

Talia retorted in exasperation, “Huh? It's all my fault? Toby Musk, you never liked our son, didn't you? You had a soft spot for Claire Walsh, but she didn't even spare you any glance. Ah! She's undoubtedly made the right choice by marrying a man holding such a high post. On the contrary, you're just a lowly small fry. Oh yeah! Isn't her husband infertile? Why don't you donate your sperm to her? With that, you'll be able to fulfill your dream of having a kid with your goddess!”

Blowing a fuse, she added oppressively, “So what? Ain't I allowed to comment anything about Allie? If it

weren't for the fact that she's your sister, I wouldn't have to cross paths with the Moore family. Do I owe them anything? D*mn it! We even have to swallow our pride and apologize to them now. Who does Old Mr. Moore think he is, huh? Why must we give in to his tyranny?”

Right that instant, an Audi pulled to a halt outside the Musk residence.

When Avery opened the door to get out of the car, Nina, seated in the passenger seat, turned and reassured her, “Don't be afraid. We're with you!”

“If anyone inside dares to pick on you, give us a call right away. We'll back you up at once,” Cecelia added earnestly. Fortunately, she was not dizzy even after finishing a few glasses of beer earlier.

Despite anything, they would not let Avery take the risk alone so late at night. Thus, Nina had requested her wealthy boyfriend to send them there.

Before Avery reached the entrance of the Musk residence, Allie emerged and stood in her way.

In fact, she only got out of the car when Avery came into view. She purposely did not step into the Musk residence with Jeffrey earlier in order to wait for her.

After scanning the surroundings cautiously, Allie lowered her voice and hissed, “It's inconvenient for me to ask you previously as Rory was with me. I tried to call you after that, but you didn't answer the phone. Spit it out. What on earth are you doing? How could you target my nephew right after leaving my son? What's up your sleeve?”

“I wish to make things clear that I don't have anything up my sleeve. Why don't you ask your nephew

instead?” Avery retaliated.

Allie snickered. “How could you marry your cousin? Don't you have any sense of shame? Is that how your grandpa and father educated you?”

“It could be in my genes,” Avery responded ambiguously, staring at her nonchalantly. The next moment, she walked past Allie and stepped into the Musk residence.

Even though she had known earlier that Dylan was her cousin, she vowed to keep mum about the secret, regardless of how the latter threatened her. After all, she never intended to upset Cayden.

Unequivocally, her marriage to Dylan was an aberrant one, so it was impossible for them to get intimate. Notwithstanding, she would never meet Dylan alone in case he forced himself on her. On top of that, she made up her mind to leave Ackleton after her father's condition stabilized.

All of a sudden, she remembered the lottery This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

she bought on the way to the bank earlier that day and began praying earnestly. Oh, God! Please let me hit the jackpot. If so, I'll be able to resign and leave this city without a care in the world, releasing myself from the shackles of money!

Later, Avery saw Jeffrey the moment she stepped into the Musk residence. Allie also entered right after her and took a seat.

At the same time, Toby and Talia descended the staircase from the first floor.

“Ery, please explain to us what happened,” Toby requested gently. He was convinced that Dylan was

the one who should be responsible for everything.

Avery could only stand still in the presence of the elders as if they were police officers interrogating her.

Seeing that everyone remained silent, Talia questioned Avery preemptively, “Since Old Mr. Moore and Cayden's mother are here now, let me ask you a question. You must answer honestly, okay? You used to be in a relationship with Cayden and visited the Moore residence before. Not only that, you even planned to marry each other then. However, nobody from the Musk family, not even Dylan, was aware of that, right?”

Talia twisted the facts deliberately so that Avery had to take the rap.

Avery smelled a rat at once. Even after drinking quite a lot, she remained quick-witted as usual. Pfft! Apparently, my so-called mother-in-law intends to turn me into a scapegoat!

“I thought Dylan's at home? Since he's not in, I've nothing much to say, too. You can ask him after he's back,” Avery stated resolutely. The next moment, she turned and decided to step out without sparing any glance at them.

“Ms. Ery! Don't leave!” Zachary dashed toward Avery and wrapped his arms around her at the entrance.

Surprisingly, Jeffrey did not stop him.

Talia knitted her brows and felt her temples start to throb at the sight of Zachary clinging to Avery.

She dared not imagine how closely Cayden used to be acquainted with her so-called daughter-in-law.

My goodness! Even his son is exceptionally clingy to her!

The scene was like a bolt out of the blue for her.

Deep down, Talia sneered. Pfft! This woman is indeed far more crafty than any other vixen! Fortunately, I discovered it earlier. If not, she will surely cheat on Dylan one day!

Looking downward at Zachary, Avery could scarcely restrain herself from revealing the truth. Nonetheless, she had to refrain from doing so, fearful of infuriating Cayden again.

Right that instant, Avery and Zachary were standing in front of the door leading to the dining room, looking like mother and son.

In a split second, a silhouette emerged and engulfed the entrance. At first, Avery thought Dylan was back. However, it turned out to be another tall and sturdy man who pushed open the door.

“Daddy, let's bring Ms. Ery home!” Zachary gazed at his father innocently with a sense of demureness on his dainty face. There was a glint of unmissable helplessness in his eyes.
