Chapter 13. Staying Away
Luka’s POV
It took a lot of strong will from my side to leave her, after our sexy play last night. But after what happened at the pool, I need to focus on my issue and leave her in safety.
She would be better without me around her. At least for the time being, I still couldn’t believe what we did last night. All these years I had thought of her as the little brat, the teenage nuisance. Then yesterday was the day that I wanted the little brat, and miraculously she wanted me too.
Knowing Alexei, I shouldn’t even try to pursue her. But her sexy ass was calling me. And I was just a man, who obviously couldn’t resist the ass covered thong which she put on for display last night.
Nikolai had shot the sniper, but there were people behind him obviously. They had penetrated the house and managed to almost drowned Olga and shot Alexei. He was reluctant about my decision in leaving the house, but finally, relent when I remind him that his daughter Olga was almost drowned and shot.
Olga…
I had been avoiding her text and calls all morning. I didn’t know what to say to her, I need to make sure that I was far away from her… far… far away when I answered her call. And this was exactly what I did when she called moments before.
“Hey Olga, look… I can’t talk right now. I’ll call you later okay?”
She sounded disappointed, but there was nothing I could do at that moment. I have to keep her safe. I was typing more codes, and try to concentrate on the current urgent situation I was in.
Maybe I should keep her safe closer?
“Luka? Are you listening?”
“Yeah, sori… I was thinking about something else.”
“Yeah, that something else better be good cause right now, we’re outnumbered. You said there were only five of them. Get your head in the game dude.” Demyan said looking annoyed. He started emptying his gun, shooting at the supposedly bad guys.
I was typing on my tablet and entering all the necessary codes for us to infiltrate deeper into the building. It was a risk for doing this mission in the day time. But security was far heavier there at night.
“Here, more amo…” I handed him the guns that I pick up earlier when he shot the guards just before we entered the building.
“Turn left… Nikolai, you go straight, then take the first room on your left. That should be the control room, they only have two guys there, just knock and shoot….” I said putting a finger on my earpiece, trying to listen to Nikolai on the other end.
Demyan and I were securing the south side until we finally reached the archived area, then I was busy finding my file. I need the incriminating hard copy gone before I started wiping off all of the bread crumbs of my existence as the only heir of the infamous Russian double agent couple Venediktov.
I had decided not to go through and stop trying to find out about their whereabouts. I was done with the bureaucracy, it was not worth the jail time. I was going to solve this once and for all, then get back to working for the Markov’s. At least I knew that they would cover my ass.
Honestly, I felt kind of stupid for handling the matter alone. Alexei had lectured me for hours when he finally gets me back to the safety of the Russian mob.
It was the feeling of being rejected that hurts the most, knowing that both of my parents were still alive and they didn’t even try to find me. I was blinded by it, then ransacked my way through the government’s most guarded files trying to find them. I was secretly hoping that they were too busy, or that they were somehow got their hands tied and was forced not to contact me.
But I knew, deep down I knew that they had let me go at some stage and start a new life without me. This was all that I thought about, for all those months I was spending my time in the most secured government underground jail facility. I was tortured daily, as they try to retrieve more information knowing that I had penetrated their most secured database. And it was all for nothing!
“Luka, you done yet?”
“Give me one more minute…” I was memorizing my file one last time before I put everything in the shredder and pour a can of soda on it. I was making sure that it was destroyed for good when I got the can from one of the desks.
“Nikolai?” I called him out as I was hearing nothing from his end.
“Yeah, I’m good… you guys done yet? I’m bored. This mission thing is too easy. Maybe I should join you guys?”
I smiled, when I heard him actually yawning. Damn crazy mob guy.
“Just stay there, we’ll catch up to you and we’ll close this thing with a bang,” I said while looking as Demyan smirked at me.
“There’s Luka the crazy trigger happy guy, I’ve missed you, man.”
“Cut it Demyan, or I’ll tweak your online existence….”
“Shit! Okay man… let’s just get to Nikolai…” he grumbled and walk before me, to clear my path.
We were finally out of the building. Demyan drives me to one of Markov’s hideaway cottage in the mountains, while Nikolai kept on asking me about my decision to isolate myself in the mountains.
“Look I’m just saying, you’ll be more productive for us nearby rather than being here alone. You’re good no more traces….”
“Nikolai, it’ll be just for a couple of weeks maybe months I don’t know, but I’ve got to make sure that they’re done with me without jeopardizing the family. And believe me, they’re good, and we have to be smart about this.”
“Okay, I know your the smart one… shit! Just contact us if you need backup. Don’t go missing on us like the last time.”
“Awww… Nikolai didn’t know you care about me that much.” I decided to tease him to get this over with, I really need to crack my fingers and do some real work.
He finally laughed and pat my back, then they both finally leave me alone. Once they were out of sight I turn off all the cameras in the house that were connected to the mansion and reroute them to my laptop.
Half an hour later I was done with my work, then I decide to relax my nerves with some beer and watch some Netflix while keeping my laptop on standby by my side.

But then moments later I was bored, and my mind drifted off to Olga.
