Chapter 2019

Alaric was one of those guys who seemed to believe life without a woman by his side wasn't worth living.

Hertha could have sworn he and Georgia had hooked up countless times. Over the three years, with 365 days each, she wouldn't have been surprised if they'd been together over a thousand times.

But she was floored when Alaric admitted it was only once.

"She tried to seduce me, but I turned her down every time," Alaric said, propping himself up on his arms beside Hertha, his chest hovering above her as he tried to keep his balance, answering her question earnestly.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Turned her down? You? How could you possibly resist?" Hertha chuckled.

"Me? What kind of person do you think I am?" Alaric bristled. "Oh, Hertha, in your eyes, am I just some kind of guy who can't control himself around women?"

"Well, aren't you?" Hertha countered.

Alaric was nearly beside himself with irritation. "Hertha, let's not forget, you were the one chasing after me three years ago. Even when I wasn't into you, I never did anything, right?"

Hertha's smile faded. Alaric had hit a nerve, and it stung. She was about to snap back but remembered she'd promised Alaric she wouldn't get angry. Besides, he was right. Back then, she had been the one desperately pursuing Alaric, practically throwing herself at him while he couldn't have seemed less interested.

"I was talking about Georgia. Why are you bringing up the past?" Hertha said, dissatisfaction clear in her voice.

"I'm just trying to make a point. Even if a woman I'm not interested in were to throw herself at me, I wouldn't give her a second glance."

"But you did sleep with Georgia three years ago," Hertha pointed out with a sour tone.

"That was because I was drunk. I thought she was you," Alaric explained. "We had checked into the hotel together, how was I supposed to know Georgia would sneak in?"

"And I've told you before, don't just

throw around that 'I thought she was you' excuse-lightly. Look at what happened to Leopold when he thought Isabella Everhart was Thalassa and ended up sleeping

with Isabella. How did thatel

Hertha especially hated that excuse. To her, it was synonymous with tragedy.

"Alright, you don't like it, I won't say it," Alaric conceded, remembering Hertha had warned him against using that line. "But that one time, it really was an accident. If I hadn't been drunk, nothing would have happened between us. You know she was someone my mother tried to set me up with. I never had any interest in her from the start, in fact, I couldn't stand her." Content

"Is it because she was chosen by your mother that you didn't like her, or was there another reason?" Hertha decided to get to the bottom of Alaric and Georgia's relationship today.

"It wasn't just because my mother chose her. It was her entitled, bossy attitude I couldn't stand, and more importantly, I just didn't like her."

"But you didn't like me back then either," Hertha huffed.

"I was blind back then, wasn't I? But then I fell for you, and for three years, I haven't looked at another woman," Alaric said, slipping into sweet talk as naturally as breathing.

Hertha's heart skipped a beat at his words. What woman wouldn't be moved by her beloved's declarations of love? But she quickly reined in her emotions, reminding herself to stay rational.

"Oh, please, don't say it was all for

me. I can't bear that weight. You're just worried about getting entangled with another woman and having Georgia make trouble for you,"

Hertha retorted. Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org

After three years of hard lessons, Hertha had learned not to overestimate her importance in someone else's life. Otherwise, the loss would be devastating.
