The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet

Chapter 1744

"I spoiled Leopold; it was my doing that led him to his demise. If only I had been firm, arranged a proper match for him instead of letting him chase after that Thalassa, he wouldn't have strayed from the right path. My son, Leopold, it's Mom who failed you."

Amelia, releasing one hand from the infant she held, clutched at her hair, howling in agony.

Her inner fragility had completely shattered. For years, Leopold's death had been a thorn in her heart, a hurdle she could never seem to overcome.

Now, with Payton laying bare the true cause of Leopold's demise, Amelia's facade crumbled. She had always blamed Thalassa and Lysander for Leopold's fate, as if harboring that resentment was the only way she could survive.

For all these years, she never dared to face the real reason behind Leopold's death, fearing that acknowledging it would strip her of the courage to go on living under her pretense.

It was a terrifying thought, and Amelia had managed by convincing herself that Thalassa and Lysander were to blame for Leopold's death. That belief allowed her to hate them, to carry herself with an air of superiority.

She had forgotten that it was she who had knelt before Lysander, begging him not to publicize Leopold's misdeeds, to let her son leave this world with dignity, not branded as a murderer even in death.

Now, Payton's blunt revelation had shattered Amelia's defenses.

Seeing Amelia's guard down, Payton quickly swooped in to take the child from her arms, immediately handing the baby over to a doctor. "Hurry, save him, please!"

"My baby, don't take my baby away!" Amelia, coming to her senses, tried to retrieve her child. Payton held her back, urgently shouting to the doctor, "Take the child for emergency care, now!"

As a father, he was fighting for his child's life with every ounce of speed he could muster.

The doctor hurried out of the room with the child.

Amelia's distress escalated; she strained towards the direction the doctor had gone, her screams tearing through the air, "My baby, my baby!"

"Amelia, let the doctors do their work. They'll bring our baby back to us," Payton said, breaking down as he held her tight, tears streaming down his face.

"Sob, sob, Payton, we can't lose another child, we can't," Amelia, clutching Payton's hand, trembled as she cried.

Through her tears, she suddenly saw

someone standing in front of her. Pausing, she then grabbed a pillow

from the bed and hurled it with aff her might at Thalassa. "Get out Thalassa, just get out! You jinx! What

are you doing here?"

Hertha, quick to react, pulled Thalassa aside as the pillow flew past them, caught squarely by Alaric.NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

Hertha, clearly annoyed, addressed

Amelia, "You just admitted that your son was led astray by your own coddling, so why call Thalassa a

jinx? She's done nothing wrong!"

Hertha and Thalassa had believed that Leopold's death was forced by Lysander, not anticipating that Leopold had taken his own life out of guilt.

They couldn't have imagined that

Leopold, so vibrant and full of life, would go to such lengths to frame Lysander, endangering the lives of workers in the process, and ultimately sacrificing his own.

What a mess this all was.

"Shut your mouth! What right do you have to judge my son!" Amelia, shaking with fury, glared at Hertha, teeth clenched in rage.
