Chapter 1741
Growing up without a father had always been tough for Thalassa, but losing her dearest mother a few years back was the final blow. Her children were her anchor, yet the Sinclair family had sent them off to a military boarding school, making it impossible for her to see them.
Just when she finally found her father, he poured all his affection into Rosalind, continuously hurting Thalassa without a second thought. And Lysander, the father of Thalassa's children, who should have been her knight in shining armor, was set to marry her half-sister. After facing one blow after another, Thalassa was left all alone, now lying on a hospital bed with not a soul in sight to comfort her.
The thought of Thalassa's trials and tribulations twisted Hertha's heart in agony. She cared for her deeply.
Luckily, the injuries weren't serious this time.
As Hertha was drowning in her worry for Thalassa, a slight movement under Thalassa's eyelids signaled her awakening. "Thalassa," Hertha whispered excitedly.
Thalassa slowly opened her eyes, greeted first by the strong scent of antiseptic. As her gaze settled on the sterile white ceiling, her eyes drifted to meet Hertha's concerned ones. She attempted to sit up, only to be hit by a wave of pain.
"Easy there," Hertha cautioned, gently pressing her down. "You've hurt your head. Don't move too hastily."
Thalassa lay back down, her mind racing back to the events that led her here.
"Was it a car crash? Did the person responsible run off?" Thalassa asked anxiously.
Hertha replied with a hint of regret, "No, it was Alaric. He's out grabbing dinner for us as a way to make amends."
"Alaric?" Thalassa was taken aback.
"I'm here, need me?" Alaric's voice, laced with jest, filled the room.
As both Hertha and Thalassa turned ertha an
their gaze towards him, he walked in holding a meal box. Hertha quickly stood up to take it from him, saying, "You should head back to Gulfstream Community to clean up and rest. I'll take care of things here."
"It's getting late, are you sure you can manage alone? I can stay and help," Alaric offered.
After apologizing to Thalassa for his
lack of control over the car, Hertha, unable to hide her annoyance,. pushed him towards the door, "Thalassa doesn't forgive you, now off you go!"
Hertha's attitude clearly pained Alaric, who looked desperately towards Thalassa for some form of forgiveness.
Thalassa, seeing his genuine remorse, said just before he left, "It was an accident, I don't blame you."
Alaric's face lit up with relief at her words, and he gratefully glanced back at Hertha.
Moved by Thalassa's kindness, Hertha's eyes filled with tears. She knew Thalassa was the most compassionate person around.
"Go freshen up. I'll stay with
Thalassa," Hertha said to Alaric, her tone much softer after Thalassa's forgiveness. She had initially taken a hard stance on Alaric to protect Thalassa's feelings, knowing deep down Thalassa would have found it difficult not to forgive him.
Now that Thalassa had voiced her forgiveness, there was no need for Hertha to be harsh anymore.
Alaric, overjoyed by the turn of events, promised, "I'll be right back."Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
